Age UK Maidstone is an independent local non-profit charity. We've been working in the local community to help older people for 50 years. We have over 70 dedicated staff and over 170 volunteers helping us to deliver services and activities for older people in Maidstone.

What We Do

We offer a wide range of services and activities including the following (please click on the green links for more details):


In the privacy of your own home, we can offer a bathing service with privacy and dignity guaranteed at all times.


At Age Maidstone one of the ways we try to beat loneliness in later life is through our West Kent Befriending Service project, where a volunteer visits an older person once a week in their own home.

COGS club

COGS Clubs may be able to help people experiencing problems with their memory. 

Computer classes

Are you aged over 55 and would like to learn how to email, browse the internet or talk to loved ones online?

Day Care

Our day care services provide an opportunity for clients who are at risk of social isolation a chance to interact with like minded people and reduce loneliness. Whether you are enquiring for yourself or someone you know that may have lost a loved one or would like to make some new friends or think it's just about time to try something new, Age UK Maidstones day care services could be the answer.

Dementia Day Care

The Goodman Centre is a secure and homely bungalow specially designed for people diagnosed with dementia at any stage. Our new sensory garden is the perfect place for clients to enjoy the fresh air in a safe, peaceful and engaging environment. This offers both the client and their carers a break from the struggles of the day to day life of living with dementia. We also provide a nutritious, hot, two course meal while to enjoy while spending your time with us.

Disability Travel Vouchers

Disability travel vouchers are available to people that have a severe mobility impairment, living in the Borough of Maidstone who would qualify for a bus pass but cannot use conventional bus services. This service is not only for people aged over 55.

Exercise and Socialise

Aged over 50? Why not come and enjoy a fun-filled exercise session aimed to help with posture, balance and overall wellbeing. 


Our foot care service is run by trained healthcare professionals. They can check your feet for any problems, such as pain or swelling, help with cutting nails, removing dead or cracked skin and corns.


We can help with a wide range of gardening services, from cutting the lawn to get washing your patio. No matter how little or large the job may be, we will always give you a quality service and a competetive rate.

Independent Living Support

The independent living support service is designed to assist older people to remain independent in their own homes.

Information and Advice

I&A can be provided to those aged 50+ who live in the Maidstone Borough Council area, as well as anyone who cares for them. Clients can access the service via phone, email, office appointment or home visit (for those who are housebound only). I&A is, and always will be, a free service.

Take Home and Settle

Following admission to A and E at either Pembry Hospital in Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone Hospital this service supports older people to enable a timely return from hospital and to prevent admission or readmission.

Trusted Traders

We have compiled our very own trusted traders register, because old and vulnerable people need access to home maintenance services from reputable traders.

Wheelchair Hire

If you have an older friend or relative visiting you or perhaps someone who is a little unsteady on their feet, then drop by our Mill Street office to take a look at our wide range of wheelchairs we have available to hire.

  • Dementia Friendly Walk - Maidstone Borough Council has launched a new dementia-friendly walk in Mote Park.
  • Monday Meet UpsPop along to Harper's on the 2nd Monday of every month. The West Kent Befriending Service will be there so you can be sure of a friendly face and someone to chat to.
  • Caremark Chattering Chums - Join us on the third Monday of each month for a cuppa, scrummy cakes and some company. As well as a special surprised guest each month! Caremark, 22 County Road, Maidstone. 10am-12pm.

Room Hire

We have a conference room available for hire that is suitable for meetings, training sessions or events with FREE WIFI and refreshments and snacks upon request for a small fee.
