Age UK Solihull

"Helping older people face the different challenges that growing older brings."

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

Did you know - In 2017/18 our Community Advice Hubs helped over 7,000 older people in Solihull find out about £2.4 million in benefits to which they were entitled, and our Direct Payments I&A Service helped 390 people to manage their personal care budgets and find the right support, with the help of our Home Support Service, over 15,000 hours of support was given to older people to help them continue to live as independently as they would wish and our Postural Stability instruction service supported 112 frequent fallers to attend 20 week classes to improve their stability, again showing it to be one of the most successful falls prevention initiatives in Solihull.

The Vision of Age UK Solihull is of a world where older people flourish and our Mission is to improve the lives of all older people in the borough of Solihull.

"The positive experiences I have gained through volunteering with this charity are endless. Through befriending for over a year, I have gained a relationship with someone of a different generation from me which continues to be a rewarding experience whilst also interacting with other volunteers and being part of many fun events."

“The Lunch Club is very important to me as before I was always stuck inside all of the time with no friends to contact and it was a struggle to meet up with them. Now I have met this wonderful group of people who have become my good friends. I look forward to meeting them every Tuesday and I have been given a chance to really enjoy myself every week. Volunteers and organisers here are lovely and the entertainment really is wonderful.”
