Bristol Grandparents Support Group

"Helping to alleviate isolation and loneliness linked to family breakdown for grandparents."

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

In 2007 we lost contact with our granddaughter due to our son's divorce, and so I decided to set up a support group for others who were going through the same heartbreak.

It is estimated that over two million grandchildren are estranged from their grandparents due to family breakdown. A recent report showed 1 in 7 grandparents are denied contact with their grandchildren.

Family breakdown can occur for many reasons,  separation or divorce, drug or alcohol dependency, domestic violence in the home, bereavement or family fall out.

Although BGSG is based in Bristol we support grandparents from all over the UK and beyond.

BGSG is not about Grandparents Rights but about the rights and well-being of grandchildren, and the continuing safe and loving relationship with grandchildren and grandparents.

We hold meetings every two months (restrictions allowing) and regular zoom meetings.

Grandchildren’s Rights - One voice, united, breaking the silence.
