Honiton Health Matters

"We provide a platform for organisations and groups to improve health and wellbeing outcomes."

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

  • Honiton Health Matters is coordinated by a steering group who meet regularly. The group is made up from a diverse range of local people - for local people. The steering group actively seeks to engage all Honiton voluntary groups.

  • Our purpose is to connect and create a network to support local health and wellbeing. Listening to community, identifying local needs, working together to shape future health and wellbeing.

  • Through regular community forums to provide opportunities for local groups to gather and discuss local issues of health and wellbeing and their own role in providing ideas and solutions.

Using the community discussions and networking events to form the agenda for future health and wellbeing actions in our communities.

Encourage and empower collaborative working between groups and develop a collective voice to influence statutory provision.

  • To create opportunities for the development of neighbourhood initiatives and support for people volunteering in the work of health and wellbeing.

What We Do

Connecting and creating a network to support local health and wellbeing. Listening to our community, identifying local needs, working together to shape future health and wellbeing services.

Our website has a directory,  that act's as a 'community connector, with local groups and organisations that can provide help and support to improve yours and your families wellbeing.

We are currently working on a collaborative project developed with Honiton Health Matters, Honiton Community College and Action East Devon’s Headlight team, (Headlight is an East Devon service supporting young people (13-24) living with mental health issues, and their parents/carers through peer support sessions), along with other community partners, with the intention of making Honiton a Mental Health Friendly Town, to provide support for parents who have children experiencing mental health issues as well as supporting groups currently working with people suffering mental health problems.
