The Listening Ear
"Provide counselling for children & young people. Early intervention, easy access, cost effective"
The
Listening Ear supports children and young people aged 5-19 living or in full time education across the BCP Council area. We provide one to one counselling within school settings.
Our fully
qualified, BACP registered, DBS checked counsellors provide confidential,
person-centred counselling using a range of therapuetic techniques including play therapy,
mindfulness, solution focused counselling and art therapy.
The
Listening Ear has been supporting children and young people throughout the BCP
area since 2002; working within schools and youth centres in partnership with
BCP council since 2012. Based on our experience working with childen and young
people, as well BACP research, we know our clients have benefited in the
following ways:
We work as a parallel
support alongside CAMHS and thereby reducing referrals to these
specialist and costly services.
The counselling provided by The Listening Ear is cost effective. Typically, one session of CAMHS costs the same as five sessions of school counselling.
Funding our service is always our greatest need. The more funds we have, the more childrern with mental health and wellbeing needs we are able to support within our community.
We need people and companies who are passionate about the mental health needs of young people to support our work. We hope this is you!
Please see our website (www.the-listening-ear.org) for one off donations. We would be very grateful.
If you would like to be involved with our work more long term, please phone 01201 980770 or email [email protected]. We would love to discuss fund raising and partnering opportunities!
