"To assist Police and other emergency services in the Search & Rescue of missing vulnerable persons."
We aim to provide a service not only to the Emergency Services, but also to the community of Dorset as a whole.
To swiftly prevent harm coming to those more vulnerable members of our Community and assist in returning them quickly and safely to their residences or homes and their family who will of course be missing them.
In the main, we search for 'High-priority' missing vulnerable Adults or Children.DorSAR was founded in 2004. We are available and on call 24/7, 365 days of the year, with a commitment to Dorset Police that we are able to deploy anywhere in the county of Dorset within 90 minutes of being called upon.
Called into action via Dorset Police, DorSAR are able to offer considerable resources to support the county's emergency services in times of crisis. Dorset Search & Rescue currently comprises of over 100 operational search technicians who are all qualified Lowland Rescue Search Technicians, a qualification that satisfies national standards. We have two vehicles, comprehensively equipped search control vehicle and a 4x4 Land Rover that is primarily used by our water team.
Additionally, we provide swift and flood water rescue teams, assistance in the search for significant objects (including crime-based searches) and support to the statutory agencies at major incidents.
Unfortunately members of the public cannot contact DorSAR to assist with missing persons cases, this must be organised via Dorset Police.
Remember, please to only call 999 if it is an emergency and 101 if it is urgent. If you can, use Dorset Police's online services.
