Dawlish Museum
"We aim to tell the story of Dawlish-its past and its future."
The Museum has 11 rooms over 3 floors and is famous for its display of Piper Bill Millins D-Day bagpipes. Packed with artifacts the displays in Dawlish Museum are regularly updated and depict life past and present in the town and notably tell the story of the February storm of 2014 which severely damaged the railway line.We keep our entry prices low so all can benefit and have a special room in the basement to better accommodate educational school visits.
We work in conjunction with the local History Society to answer for free any questions on Dawlish's past or those of a genealogical nature.
We can accommodate school visits and answer many questions about Dawlish, Dawlish Warren, the iconic railway line and its rich history.
Many people search for information on former residents , relatives or those who have historically had a connection to Dawlish in the past. We have an archive of over a 1,000 old photographs and copies of the local Dawlish Gazette going back many years.
We are happy to help for free but also grateful for any donations to help us continue our work.
We welcome volunteers who could act as stewards or guides ( no local knowledge specifically needed ) or may wish to help in other ways such as an admin assistant, archivist or with the many and varied maintenance duties.
