Community Project
Ogwild - Devon Community Wildlife Group of the Year
"Helping nature thrive within Ogwell parish. Don’t worry, bee happy!"
Ogwild exists to encourage and empower Ogwell residents to increase the biodiversity of our parish for the beauty and protection of nature for all generations both now and in the future.
Ogwild was formed in September 2919 with 10 like minded volunteers in the parish of Ogwell just outside Newton Abbot. Since then we have created a number of sites around the parish that provide wildflower habitats, a small community orchard and other areas that generally make the village a brighter and more nature friendly place.
In April 2021 we signed a 3 year lease with the Woodland Trust to manage and enhance their 5 acre site near the boundary of our parish. Our aim is to create a community space fir nature and people.
December 2022 - Ogwild are awarded the Devon Community Wildlife Group of the Year by the Devon Local Nature Partnership
We have 5 members who are part of the Teignbridge Wildlife Warden scheme and other professionals with years of relevant experience.
