Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes
We are a group of people living in the villages north of Newbury who want to help Ukrainian refugees by becoming hosts under the UL Government scheme. We formed a WhatsApp group and had a few social events to share what we knew and how we could help. This has been REALLY successful. Our guests have also formed a Telegram group so they too can talk to each other and share experiences and knowledge.

We have relied heavily on the kindness of friends and neighbours to rummage through their garages and attics and spare rooms to find kids car seats and booster seats, clothes, toys, play equipment, and all sorts of other things. Many of our guests have lost pretty much everything, and so they arrive here with a carry on suitcase and that's it. And so they have to build a short term future in our homes and from there they can begin their lives again. It's better to ask what we need than to just give us bags of stuff which we may not need and have nowhere to put. The Community Furniture Project in Newbury have been FANTASTIC ! And we are deeply grateful to them for their help and support. If you want to help, please get in touch.
