What We Do

Becoming a member of West Berkshire Spokes gives additional weight to our campaigns, helping us to lobby for ways to make cycling better for you and others.

Membership also gives you access to a great range of useful benefits, which can help to make your cycling cheaper and more enjoyable. These benefits include:

• 10% off new bikes and parts at participating local local bike shops. For details see the Useful Links page of our website.
• Affiliated membership of Cycling UK for just £28 which represents a 42% discount on the standard adult individual membership cost and includes third party liability insurance cover. For details, see the Cycling UK website or call 01483 238301.
• Free bike MOT check with one of our Cytech trained mechanics. Your bike will be checked against an ‘MOT style’ checklist with the completed report given to you for reference. Minor adjustments and puncture repairs will be carried out as part of the safety check. Any serious issues or defects requiring replacement parts will be highlighted so that you can arrange for these to be fixed.

Volunteer

We are always on the look out for people to help out on the committee and currently have a couple of vacant positions. Any member of Spokes can stand for election and people can be co-opted onto the committee at any time. None of the jobs are particularly onerous – just a couple of hours per month is typical. In most cases you don’t need any previous experience, since there are plenty of old hands around to offer advice and support and we always try to have fun whatever we do.
