Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes
Burghfield Community is a classic loosely affiliated group of residents who want to help their neighbours resolve issues and to provide information to them and back to the Burghfield Parish Council and West Berkshire Council. There is a term "Community Anchor" which is the central point for getting the main info out to residents and working with residents , statutory, charity and other local and regional services to identify and fix issues. We really came into our own during the pandemic when many statutory organisations liabilities meant they had to shut down or withdraw their services. Resident led teams using common sense filled these holes, running prescription errands, getting shopping and driving residents to appointments.

Although we generally respond to any issue under our mission statement of “Finding Help for those who need it and finding those who want to help!”.. we do also have our own specific services
- Burghfield & Mortimer Mobility Store - We provide free use of wheelchairs, Walkers, Crutches and other mobility aids to residents in need on a short & medium term basis
- Burghfield Community AED Scheme - we find and repurpose pre-used AEDs in our local community - we provide First Aid training
- Burghfield ICE Drivers (In Case of Emergency) - a small group of Burghfield Residents who have 4 * 4 vehicles and are on record as willing to help if people become trapped in ditches or are vulnerable and need extra food taken out their farm etc?

We would love more INFORMATION EDITORS - Social Media savvy people who can find and post information out to residents. This could be via the website or by Facebook Posts
We need resident helpers - just general people who are happy to go round to their neighbours and help with errands.
We would like some committee members and a bit more help with structure and IT - things like that?
