"ONW aims to prevent and reduce crime in Oxford"
Oxford Neighbourhood Watch is a local voluntary initiative to reduce and prevent crime by sharing information, supporting the elderly and vulnerable and being involved with various organizations and in partnership with the police.
We need volunteers to start up schemes by getting neighbours to register as NW members and share concerns about community safety in their neighbourhood. A neighbourhood PCSO is designated to the scheme and email access is given as a partnership.
The NW road signs are a researched and valuable crime deterrent and are available with window stickers to the local NW Coordinators to distribute, All the members and Coordinators make up Oxford Neighbourhood Watch. Social media users are welcome and classed as supporters but do not get full benefits of NW.
Everyone is welcome to join and it is FREE. We offer free services including crime prevention tips, bike marking and registration, special NW local and national discounts on security goods and talks on scams.
ONW is associated with National Neighbourhood Watch, the largest voluntary organization for crime prevention in England and Wales since 1982.
Have you been a victim of crime? We can help by giving you crime prevention tips and being part of a scheme to reduce and prevent crime from further re-victimization.
Want to avoid being a victim of crime? Join a scheme that aims at reducing crime in your area.
Want to have your bike marked and registered free - exactly the same marking that the police use? This is only available if you live in Oxford, including temporary eg students.
Signposting, whether victims of crime, domestic abuse victims or scam advice - we can help our members.
You will be very welcome as volunteers - whether as members but Coordinators are particularly needed to start up schemes and share information locally and to be a good neighbour. We need volunteers to deliver leaflets and also to help with erecting road signs.
To make things simpler, all documents will be loaded inside aDoddle.
I am the Area Representative and Administrator for Oxford. I have trainings in domestic abuse, victims of crime and problem-solving. I enjoy coordinating and sharing information and collate and edit a weekly newsletter that reaches many residents across Oxford.
I run various facebooks for community (information sharing and interaction), help the homeless information in UK, lost and found pets in Oxford, Twitter for ONW and linked-in. I run a group on Next Door for ONW. However, this is general information and we need volunteers to be more locally involved with information for crime prevention and community safety.
