DESCRIPTION:Today is World Aids Day\, this annual event serves as an important reminder that we must remain steadfast in our commitment to prevent new HIV infections and provide essential services to all people living with HIV globally. In the UK\, more than 105\,000 people are living with HIV. Globally\, an estimated 38 million people live with the virus. More than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS related illnesses over the past 40 years\, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history. \nIts also a good opportunity to clear up misconceptions about the disease\, which may lead to prejudice. \n\nHIV cannot be spread through touch\, tears\, sweat\, saliva\, or pee. It can only be spread through blood\, semen\, vaginal fluid or breast milk\nMosquitos cannot spread HIV among humans\nHIV can be spread among heterosexual couples\nTreatment for HIV doesn’t involve taking dozens of pills a day – most only take 1-4 a day\nPeople with HIV can still safely have children\nContracting HIV doesn’t mean your life is over – With treatment\, it’s possible to live a long and healthy life\, just like anyone else\n\n\n#RockTheRibbon #WorldAidsDay #LivingwithHIV \nSource: WebMD
