SUMMARY:International Dance Day
DESCRIPTION:In 1982 the Dance Committee of ITI founded International Dance Day to be celebrated every year on the 29th April\, the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810)\, creator of modern ballet. The intention of the International Dance Day Message is to celebrate dance\, revel in the universality of this art form\, cross all political\, cultural and ethnic barriers\, and bring people together with a common language – dance. \nSo put your dancing shoes on and get ready to step out. Dancing is universal — woven into virtually every society all over the world. Humans simply love dance. It brings us together whether we are the ones on the dance floor or are watching the professional performance of others. Dancing is exhilarating and impressive. Let’s honour the world of dance today\, together! \n#InternationalDanceDay #DancingQueen #LoveDance \n  \nSource:  International Dance Day – International Theatre Institute ITI (international-dance-day.org)

SUMMARY:World Asthma Day
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of World Asthma Day 2026\, the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) has chosen the theme “Access to anti-inflammatory inhalers for everyone with asthma – still an urgent need”. GINA emphasizes the need to ensure that people with #Asthma can access inhaled medications that are essential both for controlling the underlying disease and treating attacks. \nAsthma attacks cause great distress for sufferers and their careers\, and these attacks may result in hospital admission and\, in some cases\, death. Inhaled corticosteroid-containing medications prevent asthma attacks by treating the underlying inflammation that causes asthma. \nDoctors and allied health care professionals are called upon to ensure that every person with asthma is prescribed evidence-based\, essential\, inhaled corticosteroid-containing medication in addition to (or in combination with) reliever medication\, to prevent the continuing avoidable morbidity and mortality from asthma. \nAsthma is one of the most common chronic non-communicable diseases that affects over 260 million people and is responsible for over 450\,000 deaths each year worldwide. Most of these deaths are preventable. \nIn low-middle-income countries\, lack of availability or high cost of inhaled medicines\, especially inhaled corticosteroid-containing inhalers\, are major contributors to the fact that 96% of global asthma deaths occur in these countries. \nEven in high income countries\, high costs can mean that many people with asthma have limited access to essential inhaled medicines\, resulting in poorly controlled asthma and preventable asthma deaths. \nPolicy makers\, governments\, payers\, and pharmaceutical industry manufacturers and suppliers are called upon to increase their awareness of the continuing preventable morbidity and mortality associated with asthma in spite of the existence of evidence based\, highly effective management of asthma. \nWe call on everyone to increase their efforts to “Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for ALL”\, in all countries throughout the world. \nSource:  World Asthma Day 2026 – Global Initiative for Asthma – GINA \n  \n

SUMMARY:World Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:World Ovarian Cancer Day is observed on May 8th every year. The day is observed worldwide to raise awareness about #OvarianCancer and acknowledge the suffering of people with ovarian cancer and the efforts of their families. \nOvarian cancer begins in the ovaries and spreads to other organs\, including the lungs\, stomach\, lymph nodes\, and liver. Cancer is usually diagnosed when symptoms like pelvic pain\, bloating\, constipation\, and loss of appetite are observed in patients. \nEarly symptoms of ovarian cancer are usually subtle\, which leads to a long wait time before the disease is diagnosed. Doctors aim to eliminate other factors and potential causes before considering cancer\, as screening may lead to a false positive and unnecessary surgery. The surgery comes with its own risks and is avoided unless consulting doctors believe with some measure of certainty that their patient could have ovarian cancer. \nOvarian cancer advocacy organizations use the day to raise their voices in solidarity with patients and work against ovarian cancer. \n  \n  \n  \nSource: WORLD OVARIAN CANCER DAY – May 8\, 2026 – National Today

SUMMARY:World Lupus Day
DESCRIPTION:World Lupus Day serves to call attention to the impact that #Lupus has on people around the world. \nEvery day\, more than 5 million people worldwide struggle with the often debilitating health consequences of lupus\, a potentially fatal autoimmune disease capable of damaging virtually any part of the body\, including the skin\, heart\, lungs\, kidneys\, and brain. #Lupus affects people in all parts of the world. While some groups of people develop lupus more frequently than others\, lupus develops in people of all ages\, races\, ethnicities and genders. \nThe annual observance focuses on the need for improved patient healthcare services\, increased research into the causes of and cure for lupus\, earlier diagnosis and treatment of lupus\, and better epidemiological data on lupus globally. #WorldLupusDay serves to rally lupus organisations and people affected by the disease around the world for a common purpose of bringing greater attention and resources to efforts to end the suffering caused by this disabling and potentially fatal autoimmune disease. \n#WorldLupusDay \nSource:  About – World Lupus Day

SUMMARY:Global Accessibility Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:It’s #GlobalAccessibilityAwarenessDay!\nWe’re in the process of forging a new digital world\, and making it accessible for everyone is as important as ever. \nEvery user deserves a first-rate digital experience on the web. Someone with a disability must be able to experience web-based services\, content and other digital products with the same successful outcome as those without disabilities. This awareness and commitment to inclusion is the goal of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)\, a global event that shines a light on digital access and inclusion for people with disabilities. \nGlobal Accessibility Awareness Day on the 21st May  is all about getting everyone talking\, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion\, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments. \nAccessibility isn’t just about making features more accessible for the disabled\, it’s about making changes that will benefit everyone. The curb cut effect exemplifies this perfectly. \n  \n#GAAD #GlobalAccessibility \nSource* https://accessibility.day/ \n  \n

SUMMARY:World Digestive Health Day
DESCRIPTION:WDHD 2026\nYour Digestive Health:\nChronic Diarrhea: Don’t Flush the Signs Away\nEach year\, the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) celebrates World Digestive Health Day (WDHD) with a global public health campaign to raise awareness about the prevention\, prevalence\, diagnosis\, management\, and treatment of digestive diseases and disorders. \nChronic diarrhea is an often underreported and misunderstood condition\, as many individuals experience embarrassment and therefore refrain from seeking treatment unless they develop serious symptoms. Because the condition can signal more serious underlying diseases\, such as ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel syndrome\, the need for increased awareness and timely consultation is greater than ever. \nThis year’s World Digestive Health Day campaign underscores three key messages regarding chronic diarrhea: \n\nKnow what your colon is trying to tell you.\nWhen in doubt\, get underlying conditions ruled out.\nChronic diarrhea deserves attention\, not embarrassment.\n\nTogether\, let’s raise awareness about chronic diarrhea and create a healthier world\, free of stigma\, for everyone. \nDigestive health forms the foundation of overall wellness\, influencing not only physical vitality but also mental and emotional balance. The digestive system absorbs essential nutrients that fuel the body’s functions and supports long-term health. By prioritizing nourishing foods and making informed lifestyle choices\, individuals can proactively maintain their digestive health\, reduce the risk of gastrointestinal disorders\, and improve their overall quality of life. \nThis year’s theme emphasizes the importance of nourishment in every sense—through balanced diets\, hydration\, and mindful eating habits. It also invites people from all walks of life to engage in conversations about digestive health and share their unique perspectives. Together\, we can promote early detection\, preventive care\, and innovative solutions to digestive health challenges\, creating a healthier future for everyone. \n  \n#WDHD2026 #YourDigestiveHealth #DontFlushtheSignsAway \nSource: WDHD (worldgastroenterology.org) \n

SUMMARY:World Environment Day
DESCRIPTION:Today is World Environment Day! \n#WorldEnvironmentDay happens on 5th June every year. \nEvery year there is a different theme for World Environment Day. This year\, the theme is #NowForClimate \nThe planet doesn’t argue. It doesn’t negotiate. It sends signals—rising seas\, raging wildfires\, heatwaves\, melting glaciers. \nWe said 1.5°C was the limit. We are crossing it. \nFor decades\, the world has heard the climate story—warnings\, targets\, distant deadlines. Too often\, the response has been clouded by noise: delay\, distraction\, denial. \nBut listen closer now. Beneath the noise\, another signal is rising. Solar panels stretch across rooftops. Wind turbines line the horizon. Cities are being redesigned for people. Forests are being replanted. Positive tipping points are taking root in every corner of the planet. \n#WorldEnvironmentDay 2026 focuses on climate change—on the urgent signals the Earth is sending and the signals we choose to send back. UNEP’s global campaign calls on all of us to step in #NowForClimate\, and steer a world already in motion. See how you can get involved. \nAzerbaijan will host the global observance\, while a cascade of events\, campaigns\, and creative actions will unfold across continents—on screens\, in streets\, and in communities everywhere. \n#SaveThePlanet #GenerationRestoration #WED2026  #NoPlanetB  #NowForClimate \nSource: World Environment Day

SUMMARY:World Oceans Day
DESCRIPTION:World Oceans Day is celebrated on 8 June. \nWe currently face one of the greatest threats ever to our blue planet and all its inhabitants: the climate crisis. It is all too clear that we need a healthy ocean for a healthy climate\, and vice versa\, and we need significantly stronger local\, national\, and international action from both government and corporate leaders. Now.    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe World Ocean Day 2026 Action Theme – Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet – will guide global action over the coming years. It brings together the momentum of recent multi-year action themes – Catalysing Ocean-Climate Action and Protecting at Least 30% of Lands\, Waters\, and Ocean by 2030 (30×30) – and aligns powerfully with the recent ratification of the High Seas Treaty to protect biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction. \nWorld leaders have committed to 30×30 both within national waters and across the High Seas – an area covering two-thirds of the ocean and nearly one-half of Earth’s surface.  Now they need to follow through! \nThese ocean waters regulate the climate\, support extraordinary biodiversity\, sustain livelihoods\, and hold untapped scientific and medical potential. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreating strongly regulated Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) is essential to turning global commitments into real conservation outcomes. Implementation will require collective effort\, accountability\, and sustained public engagement – but if we work together\, it is definitely achievable by 2030! \nBy uniting around World Ocean Day each June\, we can accelerate progress and help create a global network of MPAs that restores ecosystems\, builds resilience\, and inspires hope for the future. \n\n\nBy collaborating in transformative ways\, we can create a healthier and more abundant future for all.  \nSee:  World Ocean Day – Uniting Ocean Action Worldwide on 8 June Every Year \n

This day encourages everyone to reflect on who they are grateful for and to take action to show their thanks\, be it through a heartfelt message\, a small gift\, or a simple gesture. \nSource & Find out More: Thank You Day | Awareness Days \n#ThankYouDay

SUMMARY:World Chocolate Day
DESCRIPTION:World Chocolate Day is sometimes referred to as International Chocolate Day. \nIt takes place on 7 July every year\, and put simply\, it’s a celebration of all things chocolate! The event was created in 2009. In some countries around the world\, the day is celebrated on different dates. But July 7 was chosen for World Chocolate Day because this day is thought to be around the time that chocolate was introduced to European countries. It quickly became a favourite treat in South Africa and across the world! \nThere are all sorts of different ways that you can celebrate World Chocolate Day.  The most obvious is by tucking into some chocolate\, but what if you’re after some more outside the (chocolate) box ideas? \nWhy not bake some delicious chocolate chip cookies with your kids\, or watch “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” movie with your family. Or find some fun facts and the history around chocolate? \nSource: World Chocolate Day 2026 | 7th July | Twinkl – Twinkl

SUMMARY:National Give Something Away Day
DESCRIPTION:Imagine a day when you could clean house and get rid of clutter\, show someone that you care\, gift small things to strangers\, and generally making the world a better place. Yes\, this day does\, in fact\, exist and on July 15 we celebrate National Give Something Away Day! \nIt’s better to give than to receive\, and this is the aim behind #NationalGiveSomethingAwayDay. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” doesn’t literally mean junk or trash\, but items that can serve someone else better. The day encourages people to give freely to others without expecting anything in return. This is also a good way to declutter and pass on things that no longer fit us or are useful to us. \nMost of us undoubtedly have way more items than we need. National Give Something Away Day was established on July 15\, 2015\, by Linda Eaton Hall-Fulcher\, a self-proclaimed giver. Linda advocates giving back to the world. According to her\, this day is for everyone who cares. It advocates for giving to friends\, family\, and the less fortunate; for #MindfulConsumerism; and for being more aware of our #CarbonFootprint. \nGiving is the simplest act to exist that can brighten up another’s day\, and at times really bring about a positive change. Whether it is something small like giving a compliment\, giving your friend a jacket of yours that she really likes\, or donating clothes to the less fortunate\, these little things can have a big impact. \nEven though giving is a selfless act\, the reward goes both ways. We benefit from feeling good about giving and making someone’s day\, and at the same time\, we also let go of items that we no longer need and are just lying around. We also learn to be grateful for all our blessings and it makes us feel like responsible people who are improving the community. \n  \nSource:National Give Something Away Day (nationaltoday.com)

SUMMARY:International Self-Care Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year on July 24th\, International Self Care Day promotes self-care as a vital foundation of health. It’s also a day for people around the world to prioritise self-care and make it a part of their lifestyle. \nWhen you take care of yourself to stay well\, you are practicing #SelfCare. Staying well includes taking care of your whole self: physically\, mentally\, and emotionally. For some\, self-care also includes taking care of themselves spiritually. So what exactly does self-care look like? It could be as simple as having some quiet time each day. Others might have coffee with a friend at least once a week. \nOther examples of self-care include: \n\nHaving a regular sleep routine\nMaintaining a healthy weight\nKeeping a reflective journal\nPracticing gratitude\nGetting a massage\nListening to relaxing music\nReading a good book\nLearning to say no\nAsking for help when necessary\n\nThere are other areas of self-care that some focus on as well. For example\, financial self-care involves paying bills on time and putting money into savings. Monitoring time on social media and decluttering your home are included in environmental self-care. \nNo matter what kind of self-care one practices\, one is bound to reap benefits. Having a healthier mind and body are the two primary benefits. Other benefits of self-care include feeling less stressed and being less overwhelmed. Self-care is especially important for caregivers. It’s easy for a caregiver to pour all of their time and energy into another person. Doing so eventually takes its toll. As the saying goes\, “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.” \nSource: INTERNATIONAL SELF CARE DAY – July 24 – National Day Calendar

SUMMARY:International Friendship Day
DESCRIPTION:Today is International Day of Friendship ! \nOur world faces many challenges\, crises and forces of division — such as poverty\, violence\, and human rights abuses — among many others — that undermine peace\, security\, development and social harmony among the world’s peoples. \nTo confront those crises and challenges\, their root causes must be addressed by promoting and defending a shared spirit of human solidarity that takes many forms — the simplest of which is friendship. \nThrough #Friendship — by accumulating bonds of camaraderie and developing strong ties of trust — we can contribute to the fundamental shifts that are urgently needed to achieve lasting stability\, weave a safety net that will protect us all\, and generate passion for a better world where all are united for the greater good. \n  \nSource: International Day of Friendship | United Nations
