Together we can create a shared understanding of compassion to ensure we are extending it widely to all. \n“Our task must be to free ourselves – by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”- Albert Einstein \nWhy compassion?\nThe last few years have been challenging for all of us. We are still adjusting to new realities post-lockdown as well as responding to new crises. In the UK\, dangerous anti-migration government rhetoric continues\, along with inhumane conditions for #AsylumSeekers.\n \nBut\, none of these things happen in isolation. We know how interconnected our world is: how something seemingly “far away” impacts everyone. DESCRIPTION:This week is Learning Disability Week! \nThe theme for this year’s Learning Disability Week is “Do you see me?” \nPeople with a learning disability want to be seen\, heard and valued.\n\n\n\n\nThat’s why we’re calling for a change to improve statistics like these:\n\n\n\nOnly 26.7% of adults with a learning disability are employed yet 86% of unemployed people with a learning disability want a paid job\n1 in 3 people with a learning disability spend less than 1 hour outside their home on a typical Saturday\nOver 2\,00 people with a learning disability and/ or autistic people are currently locked away in mental health hospitals.\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year Mencap want to show the world the incredible things that people with a learning disability can achieve\, smashing misconceptions about what people can do and shining a light on the stigma many still face every day. \nThey want to show that people are so much more than a learning disability – and this is the week for everyone in our community to make some noise about their amazing achievements\, tremendous talents\, and issues that matter most. \n#LDWeek #AutismSupport #DisabilitySupport #LearningDisabilities #DoYouSeeMe \n  \nSource:  Learning Disability Week | Mencap \n
