SUMMARY:Baby Loss Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:What is Baby Loss Awareness Week?\n\nBaby Loss Awareness Week happens every year between 9th and 15th October. We raise awareness of baby loss and campaign for the provision of better bereavement care. \nThe final day of the week\, 15th October\, is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. This is marked by the #GlobalWaveOfLight where families across the world light candles to commemorate the lives of their babies\, and share memories of the all too brief time they had together. \nThe aims of Baby Loss Awareness Week:\nUnited by the blue and pink ribbon\, we work with an alliance of over 100 charities to: \n\nRemember\nRaise awareness\nDrive change\n\n\n#BabyLoss #BabyLossAwarenessWeek \nSource:  Baby Loss Awareness Week | The Lullaby Trust

SUMMARY:Dyslexia Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Dyslexia is a neurological difference and can have a significant impact during education\, in the workplace and in everyday life. As each person is unique\, so is everyone’s experience of dyslexia. It can range from mild to severe\, and it can co-occur with other specific learning difficulties. It usually runs in families and is a life-long condition. \nIt is important to remember that there are positives to thinking differently. Many dyslexic people show strengths in areas such as reasoning and in visual and creative fields. \nThe theme for the week will be Dyslexia: Raising the Volume. \nEvery story is different – showcasing the diversity of the dyslexic community and highlighting that everyone’s experience of dyslexia is unique. 10% of the population are dyslexic – that’s over 6.7 million stories to tell. \nA strong opening sets the scene – raising awareness of the importance of early identification and intervention to ensure that every person with dyslexia can flourish. \nIt’s never too late to change your story – highlighting how the BDA can provide support and signposting to help dyslexic people begin a new chapter. \nIn the spirit of breaking through the barriers of #Dyslexia\, we’d like to share methods for supporting people with dyslexia. According to the NHS\, the following methods are how best to support a child with dyslexia: \n\noccasional 1-to-1 teaching or lessons in a small group with a specialist teacher\nphonics (a way of teaching children to identify and process the smaller sounds that make up words) combined with other techniques\ntechnology like computers and speech-recognition software that may make it easier for your child to read and write when they’re a bit older\n\nSource: NHS \nSource: Dyslexia Awareness Week – British Dyslexia Association (bdadyslexia.org.uk)

SUMMARY:Migraine Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:For this year’s Migraine Awareness Week (22nd-28th September) The Migraine Trust are asking you to join them in their campaign for #BetterMigraineCare. Help them to raise awareness for the one in seven adults and one in ten children in the UK living with migraine. \n#Migraine has been dismissed for too long as “just a headache”\, despite it being a complex and debilitating neurological disorder. We know that for those living with migraine it has a significant impact on their quality of life\, impacting their mental health\, relationships\, education and their ability to work. \nJoin the #BetterMigraineCare conversation on social media and share your experience of living with migraine for #MAW25 \n#MigraineAwarenessWeek #MoreThanJustAHeadache \nSource: Migraine Awareness Week 2025 – The Migraine Trust

SUMMARY:Great British Beach Clean
DESCRIPTION:This week is the Great British Beach Clean! \nIt’s an event where people from across the UK come together to tidy up their local beaches. There are hundreds of beach cleans taking place over the week\, so it’s worth checking if there’s one happening in your local area. \nThe week also presents an opportunity to record the levels of litter found on UK beaches. \nThanks to the hard work of volunteers all across the UK and Channel Islands\, 2024 Great British Beach Clean was a smashing success! \nWe were delighted to see even more of you join us at the beach this year\, with 5\,845 volunteers taking part in 476 events to help clean up and survey our coastline. \nA whopping 249\,823 litter items were collected\, weighing 6\,048kg and filling 1\,675 bags! By removing this litter\, our volunteers helped prevent it from entering our ocean and harming our marine life. \nIt’s easy to get involved. Simply find a beach clean near you or organise your own. We’ve got lots of guides and resources available to help you get set up. \nBeach cleans are fun for all the family (including dogs!)\, and the data collected helps us to campaign for positive change for the ocean. \n#GreatBritishBeachClean \nFind out more here: Great British Beach Clean | What you can do | Marine Conservation Society (mcsuk.org)

SUMMARY:National Eczema Week
DESCRIPTION:National Eczema Week is 14th -20th September this year. \nThe More than “Just an Itch” campaign will highlight the debilitating nature of #Eczema and its profound effect on people’s lives\, shining a light on the mental health impacts of eczema that are so often overlooked. \nA recently conducted online patient survey to better understand how eczema affects people’s emotional\, social and personal well-being\, shockingly showed 91% of respondents said their eczema made them feel self-conscious or embarrassed\, and 83% were envious of those who do not have eczema. Around 4 in 5 respondents thought that eczema reduces patients’ quality of life. \nLiving with eczema can be physically uncomfortable\, but it also takes an emotional toll. The persistent itching\, pain\, and visible appearance of eczema patches can lead to feelings of self-consciousness\, low self-esteem\, and social anxiety. People with eczema may experience frustration\, embarrassment\, along with greater anxiety and depression due to the constant struggle with their skin condition – it really is #MoreThanJustAnItch. \nThrough sharing stories of eczema patients’ experiences\, resilience\, and coping mechanisms\, we can help reduce the stigma associated with the condition and foster an environment of empathy and understanding. We also want to encourage and empower people to open up and share how they really feel about living with this long-term condition. \nSource:  National Eczema Society

SUMMARY:World Breastfeeding Week
DESCRIPTION:#WBW2025 will focus on environment and climate change. It will highlight our roles in supporting breastfeeding to create a sustainable environment while simultaneously reducing the impact of climate change caused by artificial feeding. \n#Breastfeeding can act as an equaliser in our society and efforts must be made to ensure everyone has access to breastfeeding support and opportunities. It is essential that no-one is left behind especially vulnerable mothers who may need additional support to reduce breastfeeding inequalities. \nTarget audiences including governments\, policymakers\, workplaces\, communities and parents will be engaged to play their critical roles in empowering families and sustaining breastfeeding-friendly environments in the post-pandemic work life. The theme is aligned with thematic area 4 of the WBW-SDG 2030 campaign. \n\n\n\n\nWBW-SDG CAMPAIGN\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBreastfeeding is a natural\, renewable food that is environmentally safe. Breastfeeding is produced and delivered without pollution\, packaging or waste and is the sustainable solution that is good for the planet and its people. Prioritising and supporting breastfeeding will reduce the growing climate impact of artificial infant feed supply chains. However\, breastfeeding can be challenging when parents are not fully supported. WBW2025 will outline the roles and connect the actors in the Warm Chain of Support for Breastfeeding to create a breastfeeding-friendly environment together at all levels; national\, health\, workplace and community. By connecting the actors working at different levels\, a synergistic effort to support the parents will be in place. \n#EnablingBreastfeeding #EmpoweringParentsCampaign #BreastfeedingSupport \n\nSource: World Breastfeeding Week 2025 – Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create sustainable support systems

SUMMARY:National Marine Week
DESCRIPTION:Contrary to the title\, National Marine Week is celebrated for a fortnight from July 24th to August 8th to appreciate the magnificent sea animals and plants that exist in the United Kingdom on a national scale. \nDuring #NationalMarineWeek\, people from all over the United Kingdom may come out to explore their local shoreline as the retreating sea reveals its treasures. Take time out to protect and appreciate marine life for the next two weeks. \nNational Marine Week was organized to motivate people to better understand and care for the ocean. The holiday encourages us to appreciate and protect our oceans. During National Marine Week\, people take time to focus on how vital the oceans are to humanity\, given that they constitute the largest ecosystem on the planet. In addition to containing 97% of the planet’s water\, they also make up 80% of the planet’s biodiversity\, with more than 30\,000 species. \nSource: NATIONAL MARINE WEEK – July 24\, 2025 – National Today \n

SUMMARY:Shark Week
DESCRIPTION:Shark Week happens every year in July or August. It’s a yearly\, weeklong grouping of shark-related show episodes\, documentaries\, and movies that airs on the #DiscoveryChannel. \nShark week was first aired on the 17th of July 1988 with the purpose to focus on conservational initiatives or addressing myths related to sharks. Moreover\, Shark Week allows the viewers to get a close look at these amazing\, terrifying\, but misunderstood predators. \nHeaps of people grew up harbouring a fascination with sharks and the never-stand-still\, ruthless\, killer instinct they embody. Discovery’s week of programming has become traditional fare for a generation of would-be shark scientists\, in-cage filmmakers\, and thrill-seekers. If you haven’t seen it yet\, don’t miss this year’s #SharkWeek! \n  \n

SUMMARY:Refugee Week
DESCRIPTION:Refugee Week\nFor Refugee Week we invite you to celebrate what compassion looks like in action. Together we can create a shared understanding of compassion to ensure we are extending it widely to all. \n“Our task must be to free ourselves – by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”- Albert Einstein \nWhy compassion?\nThe last few years have been challenging for all of us. We are still adjusting to new realities post-lockdown as well as responding to new crises. In the UK\, dangerous anti-migration government rhetoric continues\, along with inhumane conditions for #AsylumSeekers.\n \nBut\, none of these things happen in isolation. We know how interconnected our world is: how something seemingly “far away” impacts everyone. All of this makes us even more aware of the need to widen our circles of compassion. \nWithin our own experiences are all the tools we need to be compassionate\, not just to ourselves and those in our immediate circle but to all our human neighbours and our one shared home\, planet earth. \n*Source and find out more:  About – Refugee Week \n#RefugeeWeek #Compassion #CompassionIntoAction #SimpleActs

SUMMARY:Children's Book Week 2
DESCRIPTION:Children’s Book Week is an annual celebration of reading for pleasure for children of primary school age. A fantastic opportunity for extended teaching on any of your favourite children’s books! This year\, 2024\, marks the 100th Anniversary of Children’s Book Week and the theme is “How Do You Book?”. \nWhen is Children’s Book Week?\nThere are technically no set dates for Children’s Book Week\, meaning you’re free to celebrate this whenever suits you! However\, in the UK\, this year the event takes place over two weeks: the 6th to 12th of May and the 4th to 10th of November. Join in the celebrations with our friends across the pond\, or tie in your Children’s Book Week celebrations around World Book Day. \nWhen did Children’s Book Week start?\nThe idea for this event was conceived by Franklin K. Matthiews\, the librarian of the Boy Scouts of America\, in 1913. He thought that a celebration of children’s books would help get more children into reading\, helped by the backing of publishers\, booksellers and librarians in the US. Now going on for over 100 years\, Children’s Book Week continues to grow in popularity year on year. \nHow can I get involved with Children’s Book Week?\nSimple. Get reading! There are so many fantastic children’s books available in libraries and bookshops that it can be difficult to know where to start your search for some great children’s literature. \n#HowDoYouBook #Literacy #ReadingForJoy #FavouriteBooks \n  \nSource: Children’s Book Week 2024 – Event Info and Resources (twinkl.co.uk)

SUMMARY:Chinese New Year
DESCRIPTION:Chinese New Year 2024 will take place on the 10th of February\, with the beginning of the Year of the Dragon. Celebrations will last from the 9th of February (New Year’s Eve) until the 15th day of the New Year. \nWhat is The Chinese New Year calendar?\nEach year (also known as a cycle) of the Chinese New Year calendar is represented by a different zodiac animal. There are 12 in total. According to legend\, these 12 animals participated in a race\, which then determined their place of order in the Chinese New Year calendar. \nWhy is Chinese New Year celebrated?\nChinese New Year\, also known as the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival\, marks the first day of the New Year in the Chinese traditional calendar\, which is a lunisolar calendar. Unlike the Gregorian calendar\, used widely around the world today\, the lunisolar calendar determines dates using the location of the sun and the moon relative to the Earth. This is why\, on our Western calendars\, the date changes each year! \nIt is one of the most important events in Chinese culture and the holiday is today celebrated all around the world. Many other countries celebrate the holiday as an official festival (Korea\, Vietnam\, Singapore\, Malaysia\, Indonesia and the Philippines) due to its cultural significance. \nWhat are some Chinese New Year traditions?\nTraditionally\, Chinese New Year is a time for people to honour their ancestors and deities. Still\, many of the customs and traditions of the holiday vary wildly from region to region. Many families across China gather the night before Chinese New Year’s Day for a festive dinner to reunite them. Many people will also clean their house before the new year; this is done to cleanse any ill fortune and is thought to allow for good luck going into the new year. \nIt is also customary for people to decorate their windows and doors with red decorations\, as red is seen as a lucky colour in Chinese culture. Many also light firecrackers and gift money in red paper envelopes to celebrate! \n  \n#ChineseNewYear #YearOfTheDragon \nChinese New Year – Wikipedia

DESCRIPTION:It’s #LoveYourLungsWeek! \nThis week is all about raising awareness for how you can look after your lungs\, but there’s so much more to it than that. For some\, breathing easy isn’t as simple as taking better care of themselves. Pollution\, inequality and access to care are all factors that can leave some more vulnerable than the rest of us. \n#breatheeasyweek \nFind out more: \nhttps://www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you/breathe-easy/week
