SUMMARY:National Give Something Away Day
DESCRIPTION:Imagine a day when you could clean house and get rid of clutter\, show someone that you care\, gift small things to strangers\, and generally making the world a better place. Yes\, this day does\, in fact\, exist and on July 15 we celebrate National Give Something Away Day! \nIt’s better to give than to receive\, and this is the aim behind #NationalGiveSomethingAwayDay. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” doesn’t literally mean junk or trash\, but items that can serve someone else better. The day encourages people to give freely to others without expecting anything in return. This is also a good way to declutter and pass on things that no longer fit us or are useful to us. \nMost of us undoubtedly have way more items than we need. National Give Something Away Day was established on July 15\, 2015\, by Linda Eaton Hall-Fulcher\, a self-proclaimed giver. Linda advocates giving back to the world. According to her\, this day is for everyone who cares. It advocates for giving to friends\, family\, and the less fortunate; for #MindfulConsumerism; and for being more aware of our #CarbonFootprint. \nGiving is the simplest act to exist that can brighten up another’s day\, and at times really bring about a positive change. Whether it is something small like giving a compliment\, giving your friend a jacket of yours that she really likes\, or donating clothes to the less fortunate\, these little things can have a big impact. \nEven though giving is a selfless act\, the reward goes both ways. We benefit from feeling good about giving and making someone’s day\, and at the same time\, we also let go of items that we no longer need and are just lying around. We also learn to be grateful for all our blessings and it makes us feel like responsible people who are improving the community. \n  \nSource:National Give Something Away Day (nationaltoday.com)

SUMMARY:Nelson Mandela International Day
DESCRIPTION:Nelson Mandela has many accolades. He’s  an iconic figure that triumphed over South Africa’s apartheid regime. He was a human rights lawyer\, a prisoner of conscience\, and an international peacemaker. And he was the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa (no biggie). \nSo you see why the United Nations General Assembly would want to celebrate his life. \nCommemorated on July 18th — Nelson Mandela’s birthday — Nelson Mandela International Day celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world and the ability to make an impact. So\, in honour of his 67 years of public service\, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the U.N. ask that you spend 67 minutes of your time helping others. \nSource:  NELSON MANDELA DAY – July 18\, 2026 – National Today

SUMMARY:World Breastfeeding Week
DESCRIPTION:#WBW2026 will focus on tracking progress and evaluating breastfeeding impact on nutrition\, food security and poverty reduction with highlights of successful implementation and lessons learnt. In 2026\, the WBW-SDG campaign will enter its third cycle and will focus on tracking progress in Thematic Area 1: Nutrition\, food security and poverty reduction. The campaign will measure progress\, showcase global and regional statistics with highlights of what works and what needs further improvement. \n\nProtecting\, promoting and supporting breastfeeding will ensure optimum nutrition\, food security and poverty reduction. Breastfeeding saves both the infant and maternal lives. It also supports nutrition\, development and lifelong health. Breastmilk is a low-cost\, locally available nutrition for all\, hence promoting equity with economic returns to families and nations. We invite all the actors in the Warm Chain of Support for Breastfeeding to join us in understanding what is working in countries that are reporting good breastfeeding progress. \n\n#Breastfeeding can act as an equaliser in our society and efforts must be made to ensure everyone has access to breastfeeding support and opportunities. It is essential that no-one is left behind especially vulnerable mothers who may need additional support to reduce breastfeeding inequalities. \nTarget audiences including governments\, policymakers\, workplaces\, communities and parents will be engaged to play their critical roles in empowering families and sustaining breastfeeding-friendly environments in the post-pandemic work life. The theme is aligned with thematic area 4 of the WBW-SDG 2030 campaign. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n#EnablingBreastfeeding #EmpoweringParentsCampaign #BreastfeedingSupport #StrengthenWhatWorks \n\nSource: World Breastfeeding Week 2026

SUMMARY:Single Working Women's Day
DESCRIPTION:Single Working Women’s Day takes place on the 4th of August. Celebrated annually\, this day recognises and honours the contributions of single working women to society. It highlights their strength\, resilience\, and the unique challenges they face while balancing work\, family\, and personal life. This day is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and raise awareness about the support and resources they need. \nSingle Working Women’s Day acknowledges the hard work and dedication of single women who juggle multiple responsibilities. These women often serve as the primary breadwinners for their families while managing household duties and personal commitments. The day also sheds light on the systemic issues that single working women encounter\, such as wage gaps\, workplace discrimination\, and the lack of adequate childcare support. \nThroughout the day\, various activities and events are organised to celebrate single working women. These may include workshops\, seminars\, and networking events aimed at empowering women and providing them with valuable resources. Organisations and communities often come together to host appreciation events\, where single working women are recognised and celebrated for their contributions. \n#SingleWorkingWomensDay #WomenEmpowerment #SingleWorkingWomen #CelebrateWomen #WomenInWorkforce #SupportSingleWomen #WomenAchievements #SingleMothers \n

SUMMARY:National Opportunity Day
DESCRIPTION:Imagine a world where setbacks are simply stepping stones. A world where a change in direction is not seen as failure\, but as an opportunity to discover hidden talents and uncover new passions. This is the world we invite you to explore on #NationalOpportunityDay on 7th August. It’s a world where limitations are shattered\, and aspirations are embraced. \nWhether it’s vocational training\, apprenticeships\, work-based learning\, or pursuing an alternative higher education path\, National Opportunity Day celebrates all these options and more. No student should ever feel left behind. It’s never too late and there’s always a possibility. There’s something for everyone. We’re here to help you navigate through the maze of opportunities and find the path that resonates with you. \nLife is full of unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes\, the path we envision takes a detour. But here’s the thing: that detour can lead us to remarkable opportunities we never even dreamed of. That’s what National Opportunity Day is all about – celebrating the boundless possibilities that await everyone\, regardless of any disappointment or setbacks. \nA smooth ride is rare. Many students find themselves disappointed when they don’t achieve the results they hoped for\, or secure the further education place they had set their heart on. It’s natural to feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. However\, this is not the end of the road. It’s just the beginning. \nNational Opportunity Day is a day dedicated to shedding light on all the possible opportunities beyond the traditional route. We hope to inspire and empower students to embrace alternative options that can lead to a fulfilling and successful future. \n  \nSource: National Opportunity Day 2026: 7 August 2026 | Awareness Days

SUMMARY:National Non-Profit Day
DESCRIPTION:National Non-Profit Day is commemorated on August 17 each year to recognize non-profit organisations’ ongoing efforts to serve the local community. They do vital work\, which can often go under-appreciated. \nThat’s why we’re celebrating #NationalNonprofitDay\, to shine a light on the wonderful non-profit organisations working to make a difference in their area. \nWhy not take some time to familiarise yourself with the non-profit organisations in your area? \nLearn more on aDoddle.org
