SUMMARY:Black History Month
DESCRIPTION:The ethos of Black History Month is to educate people on the achievements and contributions African and Caribbean heritage peoples have made to the UK’s history and culture. \nBlack History Month UK was the brainchild of Akyaaba Addai-Sebo\, a special projects officer at the Greater London Council. He wanted to boost the self-esteem of Black British children and young adults by educating on them on the achievements of Black people living in the UK. \nThe month has since evolved into a celebration of black history and culture that spans across multiple countries! \nThe theme for the month is ‘Legacies with Action: Understanding 60 Years of Change and Challenge.’  2025 marks 60 years since the UK’s first Race Relations Act — a landmark moment in the ongoing journey towards racial justice and equality. \n \n#BHM2025 #BlackHistoryMonth \nSource: IBHM-UK|Black History Month UK 2025 Theme – Legacies of Action

SUMMARY:Dyslexia Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Dyslexia is a neurological difference and can have a significant impact during education\, in the workplace and in everyday life. As each person is unique\, so is everyone’s experience of dyslexia. It can range from mild to severe\, and it can co-occur with other specific learning difficulties. It usually runs in families and is a life-long condition. \nIt is important to remember that there are positives to thinking differently. Many dyslexic people show strengths in areas such as reasoning and in visual and creative fields. \nThe theme for the week will be Dyslexia: Raising the Volume. \nEvery story is different – showcasing the diversity of the dyslexic community and highlighting that everyone’s experience of dyslexia is unique. 10% of the population are dyslexic – that’s over 6.7 million stories to tell. \nA strong opening sets the scene – raising awareness of the importance of early identification and intervention to ensure that every person with dyslexia can flourish. \nIt’s never too late to change your story – highlighting how the BDA can provide support and signposting to help dyslexic people begin a new chapter. \nIn the spirit of breaking through the barriers of #Dyslexia\, we’d like to share methods for supporting people with dyslexia. According to the NHS\, the following methods are how best to support a child with dyslexia: \n\noccasional 1-to-1 teaching or lessons in a small group with a specialist teacher\nphonics (a way of teaching children to identify and process the smaller sounds that make up words) combined with other techniques\ntechnology like computers and speech-recognition software that may make it easier for your child to read and write when they’re a bit older\n\nSource: NHS \nSource: Dyslexia Awareness Week – British Dyslexia Association (bdadyslexia.org.uk)

SUMMARY:International Stuttering Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:Today is International Stuttering Awareness Day. While many people may develop a #Stutter in childhood\, it is quite common for them to “grow out” it as they age. However\, this doesn’t make a stutter any less of a challenge for the individuals who live with a stutter. \nFortunately\, there are resources for people who develop a stutter and treatments which range from creating a safe environment where people with a stutter can feel more confident\, to strategies that increase fluency and help to develop communication skills. \nTogether\, we can build a more inclusive world where every voice is valued. 💚 \n  \nSource: NHS \n#InternationalStutteringAwarenessDay \nFind Out More About International Stuttering Day: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Stuttering_Awareness_Day
