SUMMARY:World Oceans Day
DESCRIPTION:World Oceans Day is celebrated on 8 June. \nWe currently face one of the greatest threats ever to our blue planet and all its inhabitants: the climate crisis. It is all too clear that we need a healthy ocean for a healthy climate\, and vice versa\, and we need significantly stronger local\, national\, and international action from both government and corporate leaders. Now.    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe World Ocean Day 2026 Action Theme – Strong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet – will guide global action over the coming years. It brings together the momentum of recent multi-year action themes – Catalysing Ocean-Climate Action and Protecting at Least 30% of Lands\, Waters\, and Ocean by 2030 (30×30) – and aligns powerfully with the recent ratification of the High Seas Treaty to protect biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction. \nWorld leaders have committed to 30×30 both within national waters and across the High Seas – an area covering two-thirds of the ocean and nearly one-half of Earth’s surface.  Now they need to follow through! \nThese ocean waters regulate the climate\, support extraordinary biodiversity\, sustain livelihoods\, and hold untapped scientific and medical potential. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCreating strongly regulated Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) is essential to turning global commitments into real conservation outcomes. Implementation will require collective effort\, accountability\, and sustained public engagement – but if we work together\, it is definitely achievable by 2030! \nBy uniting around World Ocean Day each June\, we can accelerate progress and help create a global network of MPAs that restores ecosystems\, builds resilience\, and inspires hope for the future. \n\n\nBy collaborating in transformative ways\, we can create a healthier and more abundant future for all.  \nSee:  World Ocean Day – Uniting Ocean Action Worldwide on 8 June Every Year \n

Running from April to October\, The Big Bike Revival offers free local cycling sessions to help adults build skills and confidence. Delivered by grassroots organisations in accessible community spaces like parks\, high streets and local venues\, these sessions include learning to ride\, basic maintenance\, free bike checks and short led rides. SUMMARY:Cervical Screening Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Cervical Screening Awareness Week is a UK-wide health campaign that takes place every June to encourage eligible people to attend their routine cervical screening appointments. In 2026 it runs from Monday\, 15 June to Sunday\, 21 June\, and is led by gynaecological cancer charities working alongside the NHS. \nCervical Screening Awareness Week is a national health campaign focused on the prevention and early detection of cervical cancer through regular screening. The campaign is supported by charities including Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust\, The Eve Appeal\, Macmillan Cancer Support\, and Cancer Research UK\, alongside NHS partners across England\, Scotland\, Wales\, and Northern Ireland. It encourages people aged 25 to 64 with a cervix to book and attend their cervical screening appointment\, also known as a smear test\, when invited. The week also provides accessible information for those who feel anxious\, embarrassed\, or uncertain about the test. \nCervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers\, yet around two women in the UK still die from it every day. According to NHS England data\, around 1 in 3 eligible people do not attend their cervical screening appointment\, and uptake among younger people aged 25 to 29 has fallen below 70 per cent in recent years. Regular cervical screening can prevent up to 75 per cent of cervical cancers by detecting human papillomavirus\, the cause of most cases\, before any cancer develops. Cervical Screening Awareness Week addresses the practical and emotional barriers that stop people from booking appointments\, including fear\, past trauma\, cultural concerns\, and lack of accessible information for disabled people\, trans men\, and non-binary people. \n#SmearTest #WomensHealth #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek  #CSAW26 \n  \nSource: Cervical Screening Awareness Week 2026 | 15-21 June 2026

SUMMARY:National Bereaved Parents Day
DESCRIPTION:National Bereaved Parents Day was set up in 2020 as there wasn’t a specific day that honoured bereaved parents from all walks of life. We wanted to bring together anyone affected by the loss of a child to show them that they are not alone. \n#NationalBereavedParentsDay will take place on 3rd July to raise awareness for all parents who have lost a child of any age\, and from any circumstance. \nPlease join us to help spread the message\, keep that conversation going\, raise awareness and show the bereaved parent community that they are NOT alone. \nThis year’s theme is This is my place. SUMMARY:Alcohol Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Alcohol Awareness Week is 6th- 12th July 2026. \nIt is a chance for the UK to get thinking about drinking. It’s a week of awareness-raising\, campaigning for change\, and more. The theme for Alcohol Awareness Week 2026 is  ‘Alcohol and me’. \nIn a world where big alcohol companies glamorise alcohol as central to everyday experiences – from birthdays and barbecues to sofa nights and cheering on our team – it’s understandable that alcohol often feels like an inevitable part of so many of our lives. So this Alcohol Awareness Week we’re inviting a different conversation and asking: how might alcohol truly be impacting our lives and what can we do about it? \nWhether it’s sleepless nights\, low energy\, increased anxiety or a lingering sense of feeling not quite right\, alcohol can affect us in ways we don’t always realise\, having a knock on effect on our health and wellbeing\, our relationships\, our productivity\, and those we love. It can also put us at real risk of developing many other long-term health conditions such as liver disease\, high blood pressure\, stroke\, and cancer. \nThis Alcohol Awareness Week\, we’re simply inviting you to take 2 minutes to explore the role alcohol is playing in your life. This could mean understanding more about your alcohol risk level\, cutting back on how much you drink\, experimenting with an alcohol-free experience or simply learning more. There’s no one-size fits all approach. \nAnd we get it – exploring your relationship with alcohol might feel uncomfortable\, confronting\, or even a little daunting. That’s okay – you’re not alone in that feeling. But it might be a sign that this is just the right time to learn more\, get advice and take a step forwards. \nWhen we drink less alcohol\, the benefits often reach far beyond ourselves\, strengthening our relationships\, our families\, and improving our working lives\, communities\, and society. During Alcohol Awareness Week\, we’ll be sharing stories from people who’ve experienced alcohol harm\, exploring the impact it’s had on their lives and the lives of those around them\, and about the steps they’ve taken to bring about positive change for the benefit of everyone. \nWe can all take steps to make a change. And with improved support and prevention\, we can save money and save lives. \nJoin us for this year’s Alcohol Awareness Week to find out more about alcohol and its cost to us all. \nSource: About Alcohol Awareness Week | Alcohol Change UK

SUMMARY:World Chocolate Day
DESCRIPTION:World Chocolate Day is sometimes referred to as International Chocolate Day. \nIt takes place on 7 July every year\, and put simply\, it’s a celebration of all things chocolate! The event was created in 2009. In some countries around the world\, the day is celebrated on different dates. But July 7 was chosen for World Chocolate Day because this day is thought to be around the time that chocolate was introduced to European countries. It quickly became a favourite treat in South Africa and across the world! \nThere are all sorts of different ways that you can celebrate World Chocolate Day.  The most obvious is by tucking into some chocolate\, but what if you’re after some more outside the (chocolate) box ideas? \nWhy not bake some delicious chocolate chip cookies with your kids\, or watch “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” movie with your family. Or find some fun facts and the history around chocolate? \nSource: World Chocolate Day 2026 | 7th July | Twinkl – Twinkl

SUMMARY:National Give Something Away Day
DESCRIPTION:Imagine a day when you could clean house and get rid of clutter\, show someone that you care\, gift small things to strangers\, and generally making the world a better place. Yes\, this day does\, in fact\, exist and on July 15 we celebrate National Give Something Away Day! \nIt’s better to give than to receive\, and this is the aim behind #NationalGiveSomethingAwayDay. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” doesn’t literally mean junk or trash\, but items that can serve someone else better. The day encourages people to give freely to others without expecting anything in return. This is also a good way to declutter and pass on things that no longer fit us or are useful to us. \nMost of us undoubtedly have way more items than we need. National Give Something Away Day was established on July 15\, 2015\, by Linda Eaton Hall-Fulcher\, a self-proclaimed giver. Linda advocates giving back to the world. According to her\, this day is for everyone who cares. It advocates for giving to friends\, family\, and the less fortunate; for #MindfulConsumerism; and for being more aware of our #CarbonFootprint. \nGiving is the simplest act to exist that can brighten up another’s day\, and at times really bring about a positive change. Whether it is something small like giving a compliment\, giving your friend a jacket of yours that she really likes\, or donating clothes to the less fortunate\, these little things can have a big impact. \nEven though giving is a selfless act\, the reward goes both ways. We benefit from feeling good about giving and making someone’s day\, and at the same time\, we also let go of items that we no longer need and are just lying around. We also learn to be grateful for all our blessings and it makes us feel like responsible people who are improving the community. \n  \nSource:National Give Something Away Day (nationaltoday.com)
