SUMMARY:National Eczema Week
DESCRIPTION:National Eczema Week is from 12th-19th September this year. \nThe More than “Just an Itch” campaign will highlight the debilitating nature of #Eczema and its profound effect on people’s lives\, shining a light on the mental health impacts of eczema that are so often overlooked. \nA recently conducted online patient survey to better understand how eczema affects people’s emotional\, social and personal well-being\, shockingly showed 91% of respondents said their eczema made them feel self-conscious or embarrassed\, and 83% were envious of those who do not have eczema. Around 4 in 5 respondents thought that eczema reduces patients’ quality of life. \nLiving with eczema can be physically uncomfortable\, but it also takes an emotional toll. The persistent itching\, pain\, and visible appearance of eczema patches can lead to feelings of self-consciousness\, low self-esteem\, and social anxiety. People with eczema may experience frustration\, embarrassment\, along with greater anxiety and depression due to the constant struggle with their skin condition – it really is #MoreThanJustAnItch. \nThrough sharing stories of eczema patients’ experiences\, resilience\, and coping mechanisms\, we can help reduce the stigma associated with the condition and foster an environment of empathy and understanding. We also want to encourage and empower people to open up and share how they really feel about living with this long-term condition. \nSource:  National Eczema Society

SUMMARY:Positive Thinking Day
DESCRIPTION:Its Positive Thinking Day 🙂 \nNegative thinking has a way of sapping away a person’s self-worth and distorting a person’s view of the world. It also has a tendency of poisoning everything in that person that’s good and decent. Fortunately\, that’s a process that can be stopped with a little bit of positive thinking. Positive thinking\, when properly applied with purpose\, can help a person feel better about themselves and can make them feel like the best version of themselves. And that’s why Positive Thinking Day is such an important day. \n  \nThis unofficial holiday falls on the 13th of September and is designed to help everyone replace their negative thinking with more positive thoughts. \n#BeMorePositive #PositiveThinkingDay

SUMMARY:ADHD Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:This October is ADHD Awareness Month.  Difficulty with attention\, concentration\, memory\, impulsivity\, hyperactivity\, and social skills — these are among the signs of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder\, which affects millions of people. \nADHD Awareness Month\, sponsored by the Attention Deficit Disorder Association\, highlights the latest research and clinical studies with the goal of bringing more effective treatments. Its guiding principle is that life can be better for those with #ADHD and for those who love or work with someone with ADHD. \n\n\n\nIt affects a wide variety of people\nNo demographic is immune from ADHD. It’s found in people of all ages and backgrounds. Nearly 10 % of children will be diagnosed with ADHD and more than 4 % of adults will exhibit symptoms. \n\n\n\n\nIt’s genetic\nNo one is to blame for ADHD. It’s a brain-based disorder that is often genetic. Family history can can play a role in children who are diagnosed. Prenatal risk is a factor — along with environmental toxins. \n\n\n\n\nADHD contributes to other problems\nThey include the loss of productivity at work or school\, relationship problems\, obesity\, and legal troubles. \nThe best way to change people’s views about ADHD is to let them know: it’s not about somebody else\, it’s about someone they know. \n  \n\n\n\nSource: ADHD AWARENESS MONTH (nationaltoday.com)

SUMMARY:Grandparents Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:When is Grandparents’ Day in the UK?\nIn the United Kingdom\, Grandparents’ Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of October. In 2026\, it’ll be celebrated on 4th October. \nGrandparents come in all shapes and sizes\, but they all have one thing in common: the love and pride they have for their grandchildren. Being a grandparent is an important role and it’s only fitting that the world gives a little back one day each year on Grandparents’ Day. \nSo what is Grandparents’ Day?\nGrandparents’ Day is a day dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the important contribution made by grandparents to their families. It is an opportunity for families to show their appreciation\, gratitude and respect for the older generation. \nFamilies can celebrate by spending time together\, sharing stories and encouraging some quality\, precious time between grandparents and their grandchildren. \nIt will be joyous for many\, but it’ll also be a sad time for others too\, as we reflect on the grandparents we’ve loved and lost. \nWhile it’s not as widely celebrated as Mother’s Day or Father’s Day\, Grandparents’ Day is increasing in popularity. \nThe importance of Grandparents’ Day is to spend some quality time with your family. Gifts and surprises are lovely\, but this holiday is all about uniting the two generations and sharing some love and knowledge. \n  \nSource: What Is Grandparents’ Day and When Is It in the UK? | SunLife

SUMMARY:World Sight Day
DESCRIPTION:World Sight Day is 8th October 2026\, and focuses the world’s attention on the importance of eye care in young people and inspiring children everywhere to love their eyes. \nTogether\, The International Agency of the Prevention of Blindness are creating a world where every child has eye health that is accessible\, available and affordable. \nStarting with a groundswell of young people who are inspired to make their vision a priority. A generation of children who have all the information they need to protect their eyes and\, crucially\, take the steps needed to look after their vision – from reducing screen time and placing importance on being outside through to seeking help for any ailments and discomfort. \nThey campaign to ensure that children not only understand the importance of caring for their eye health but are also free from the weight of any social stigma associated with wearing glasses and other corrective treatments. \nThrough these efforts\, governments and those of influence are listening like never before – recognising that early intervention and regular eye health is critical to unlocking education opportunities and future economic potential. \nJoin them and millions of children globally in making the case loudly and repeatedly that eye health in young people is not an optional extra. It is vital to everything. \nThis would be a good time to get your eyes checked. The doctor will examine the condition of the blood vessels in your retina and check the overall functioning of your eyes and vision. Go to your nearest eye clinic and also motivate your family members and friends to get their eyes checked. \n#LoveYourEyes #EyeHealth #IAPB \nSource: World Sight Day – International Agency of the Prevention of Blindness (iapb.world)

SUMMARY:World Stroke Day
DESCRIPTION:One in four of us will have a stroke in our lifetime. And 90% of those strokes could be prevented by addressing a small number of risk factors including high blood pressure (hypertension)\, irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation)\, smoking\, diet and exercise. \nJoin us on October 29th to drive public awareness of stroke symptoms and the need to #ActFAST. With 1 in 4 of us at risk of stroke in our lifetime\, it’s in everyone’s interest to know the signs of stroke. Time lost is brain lost and seeking emergency care as soon as symptoms are spotted saves lives and can enable treatments that improve our chances of a full recovery. \n#WorldStrokeDay is focused primarily on prevention with a focus on getting a health check to identify and help manage key risk factors for stroke \n\nhypertension\nsmoking\natrial fibrillation\ncholesterol\ndiabetes\n\nCheck for signs of a stroke\nThe main symptoms of a stroke can happen suddenly. They may include: \n\nface weakness – one side of your face may droop (fall) and it might be hard to smile\narm weakness – you may not be able to fully lift both arms and keep them there because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm\nspeech problems – you may slur your words or sound confused\n\nThe easiest way to remember these symptoms is the word FAST. This stands for: face\, arms\, speech and time to call 999. \n#ActFast \nSources:  World Stroke Day 2026 | World Stroke Organization \nSymptoms of a stroke – NHS \n
