SUMMARY:Bike Week
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, Bike Week takes place 9th-15th June. \nBike Week is the UK’s biggest awareness-raising moment of the year for cycling and a chance to celebrate. It’s a time to remind ourselves of all the positives that riding a bike can bring\, both to our own health and wellbeing\, as well as the wider impacts on our communities and the planet. \nWhether you ride every day or haven’t cycled in years\, Bike Week is all about showcasing how cycling can fit into daily life – for everyone. \nBike Week shines a spotlight on the many ways cycling benefits us all – from boosting health and wellbeing to cutting carbon emissions and creating more connected communities. It’s a week to celebrate the simple joy of getting on a bike and to inspire others to give it a go. \nThis week is packed with ways to get involved – why not consider attending one of The Big Bike Revival sessions? Running from April to October\, The Big Bike Revival offers free local cycling sessions to help adults build skills and confidence. Delivered by grassroots organisations in accessible community spaces like parks\, high streets and local venues\, these sessions include learning to ride\, basic maintenance\, free bike checks and short led rides. It’s a great opportunity to dust off your bike\, pick up some new skills and enjoy the ride! \nThis year\, we’re also inviting everyone to take part in the Big Bike Brunch! It’s the perfect way to celebrate Bike Week. \nSource: Bike Week 2025 | Cycling UK

SUMMARY:Carers Week
DESCRIPTION:This week is #CarersWeek \nCarers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring\, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support. \nThe campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for #Carers\, run activities\, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is. \nThis year the theme is ‘Caring About Equality‘ highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers\, including a greater risk of poverty\, social isolation\, poor mental and physical health. Far too often\, carers of all-ages miss out on opportunities in their education\, careers\, or personal lives\, just because of their caring role. Get involved in Carers Week 2025\, and together let’s work towards an equal society\, where carers are truly valued\, recognised and supported. \n  \n#CarersSupport #SupportUnpaidCarers #PeopleHelpingPeople \n  \nFind out more: https://www.carersweek.org/ \n

SUMMARY:Refugee Week
DESCRIPTION:Refugee Week\nFor Refugee Week we invite you to celebrate what compassion looks like in action. Together we can create a shared understanding of compassion to ensure we are extending it widely to all. \n“Our task must be to free ourselves – by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”- Albert Einstein \nWhy compassion?\nThe last few years have been challenging for all of us. We are still adjusting to new realities post-lockdown as well as responding to new crises. In the UK\, dangerous anti-migration government rhetoric continues\, along with inhumane conditions for #AsylumSeekers.\n \nBut\, none of these things happen in isolation. We know how interconnected our world is: how something seemingly “far away” impacts everyone. All of this makes us even more aware of the need to widen our circles of compassion. \nWithin our own experiences are all the tools we need to be compassionate\, not just to ourselves and those in our immediate circle but to all our human neighbours and our one shared home\, planet earth. \n*Source and find out more:  About – Refugee Week \n#RefugeeWeek #Compassion #CompassionIntoAction #SimpleActs

SUMMARY:World Chocolate Day
DESCRIPTION:World Chocolate Day is sometimes referred to as International Chocolate Day. \nIt takes place on 7 July every year\, and put simply\, it’s a celebration of all things chocolate! The event was created in 2009. In some countries around the world\, the day is celebrated on different dates. But July 7 was chosen for World Chocolate Day because this day is thought to be around the time that chocolate was introduced to European countries. It quickly became a favourite treat in South Africa and across the world! \nThere are all sorts of different ways that you can celebrate World Chocolate Day.  The most obvious is by tucking into some chocolate\, but what if you’re after some more outside the (chocolate) box ideas? \nWhy not bake some delicious chocolate chip cookies with your kids\, or watch “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” movie with your family. Or find some fun facts and the history around chocolate? \nSource: World Chocolate Day 2025 | 7th July | Twinkl – Twinkl

SUMMARY:Alcohol Awareness Week
DESCRIPTION:Alcohol Awareness Week is 7th- 14th July 2025. (The week has typically taken place in November each year. However\, Alcohol Awareness Week has now moved to its new spot in July.)It is a chance for the UK to get thinking about drinking. It’s a week of awareness-raising\, campaigning for change\, and more. The theme for Alcohol Awareness Week 2025  is “alcohol and work” \nAround 10 million of us are regularly drinking alcohol in ways that can harm our health and wellbeing. From headaches\, hangovers and sleepless nights to lower productivity and symptoms like anxiety and depression worsening over time\, alcohol affects us in so many ways. \nBut how many of us have stopped to think about the impact of the work we do on our risk from alcohol? With longer hours\, more stress\, the blurring of lines between work and home\, and too many workplace cultures that place booze rather than people at the centre of things\, there are so many ways work and alcohol are linked. This Alcohol Awareness Week\, it’s time for us\, and the places we work\, to feel healthier\, more productive and happier. \nThe cost of living crisis has also played a key role in causing some people to drink more than they’d like to cope with worries around the crisis. \nBut the cost of alcohol to individuals\, our relationships\, our families\, and our stretched vital public services doesn’t have to be so high. \nWe can all take steps to make a change. And with improved support and prevention\, we can save money and save lives. \nJoin us for this year’s Alcohol Awareness Week to find out more about alcohol and its cost to us all. \nSource: About Alcohol Awareness Week | Alcohol Change UK

SUMMARY:National Give Something Away Day
DESCRIPTION:Imagine a day when you could clean house and get rid of clutter\, show someone that you care\, gift small things to strangers\, and generally making the world a better place. Yes\, this day does\, in fact\, exist and on July 15 we celebrate National Give Something Away Day! \nIt’s better to give than to receive\, and this is the aim behind #NationalGiveSomethingAwayDay. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” doesn’t literally mean junk or trash\, but items that can serve someone else better. The day encourages people to give freely to others without expecting anything in return. This is also a good way to declutter and pass on things that no longer fit us or are useful to us. \nMost of us undoubtedly have way more items than we need. National Give Something Away Day was established on July 15\, 2015\, by Linda Eaton Hall-Fulcher\, a self-proclaimed giver. Linda advocates giving back to the world. According to her\, this day is for everyone who cares. It advocates for giving to friends\, family\, and the less fortunate; for #MindfulConsumerism; and for being more aware of our #CarbonFootprint. \nGiving is the simplest act to exist that can brighten up another’s day\, and at times really bring about a positive change. Whether it is something small like giving a compliment\, giving your friend a jacket of yours that she really likes\, or donating clothes to the less fortunate\, these little things can have a big impact. \nEven though giving is a selfless act\, the reward goes both ways. We benefit from feeling good about giving and making someone’s day\, and at the same time\, we also let go of items that we no longer need and are just lying around. We also learn to be grateful for all our blessings and it makes us feel like responsible people who are improving the community. \n  \nSource:National Give Something Away Day (nationaltoday.com)

SUMMARY:Nelson Mandela International Day
DESCRIPTION:Nelson Mandela has many accolades. He’s  an iconic figure that triumphed over South Africa’s apartheid regime. He was a human rights lawyer\, a prisoner of conscience\, and an international peacemaker. And he was the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa (no biggie). \nSo you see why the United Nations General Assembly would want to celebrate his life. \nCommemorated on July 18 — Nelson Mandela’s birthday — Nelson Mandela International Day celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world and the ability to make an impact. So\, in honour of his 67 years of public service\, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the U.N. ask that you spend 67 minutes of your time helping others. \nSource: NELSON MANDELA DAY – July 18\, 2025 – National Today

It’s a yearly\, weeklong grouping of shark-related show episodes\, documentaries\, and movies that airs on the #DiscoveryChannel. \nShark week was first aired on the 17th of July 1988 with the purpose to focus on conservational initiatives or addressing myths related to sharks. Moreover\, Shark Week allows the viewers to get a close look at these amazing\, terrifying\, but misunderstood predators. \nHeaps of people grew up harbouring a fascination with sharks and the never-stand-still\, ruthless\, killer instinct they embody. Discovery’s week of programming has become traditional fare for a generation of would-be shark scientists\, in-cage filmmakers\, and thrill-seekers. If you haven’t seen it yet\, don’t miss this year’s #SharkWeek! \n  \n

SUMMARY:International Self-Care Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year on July 24th\, International Self Care Day promotes self-care as a vital foundation of health. It’s also a day for people around the world to prioritise self-care and make it a part of their lifestyle. \nWhen you take care of yourself to stay well\, you are practicing #SelfCare. Staying well includes taking care of your whole self: physically\, mentally\, and emotionally. For some\, self-care also includes taking care of themselves spiritually. So what exactly does self-care look like? It could be as simple as having some quiet time each day. Others might have coffee with a friend at least once a week. \nOther examples of self-care include: \n\nHaving a regular sleep routine\nMaintaining a healthy weight\nKeeping a reflective journal\nPracticing gratitude\nGetting a massage\nListening to relaxing music\nReading a good book\nLearning to say no\nAsking for help when necessary\n\nThere are other areas of self-care that some focus on as well. For example\, financial self-care involves paying bills on time and putting money into savings. Monitoring time on social media and decluttering your home are included in environmental self-care. \nNo matter what kind of self-care one practices\, one is bound to reap benefits. Having a healthier mind and body are the two primary benefits. Other benefits of self-care include feeling less stressed and being less overwhelmed. Self-care is especially important for caregivers. It’s easy for a caregiver to pour all of their time and energy into another person. Doing so eventually takes its toll. As the saying goes\, “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.” \nSource: INTERNATIONAL SELF CARE DAY – July 24 – National Day Calendar

SUMMARY:World Breastfeeding Week
DESCRIPTION:#WBW2025 will focus on environment and climate change. It will highlight our roles in supporting breastfeeding to create a sustainable environment while simultaneously reducing the impact of climate change caused by artificial feeding. \n#Breastfeeding can act as an equaliser in our society and efforts must be made to ensure everyone has access to breastfeeding support and opportunities. It is essential that no-one is left behind especially vulnerable mothers who may need additional support to reduce breastfeeding inequalities. \nTarget audiences including governments\, policymakers\, workplaces\, communities and parents will be engaged to play their critical roles in empowering families and sustaining breastfeeding-friendly environments in the post-pandemic work life. The theme is aligned with thematic area 4 of the WBW-SDG 2030 campaign. \n\n\n\n\nWBW-SDG CAMPAIGN\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBreastfeeding is a natural\, renewable food that is environmentally safe. Breastfeeding is produced and delivered without pollution\, packaging or waste and is the sustainable solution that is good for the planet and its people. Prioritising and supporting breastfeeding will reduce the growing climate impact of artificial infant feed supply chains. However\, breastfeeding can be challenging when parents are not fully supported. WBW2025 will outline the roles and connect the actors in the Warm Chain of Support for Breastfeeding to create a breastfeeding-friendly environment together at all levels; national\, health\, workplace and community. By connecting the actors working at different levels\, a synergistic effort to support the parents will be in place. \n#EnablingBreastfeeding #EmpoweringParentsCampaign #BreastfeedingSupport \n\nSource: World Breastfeeding Week 2025 – Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create sustainable support systems
