SUMMARY:National Pumpkin Day
DESCRIPTION:National Pumpkin Day is observed on October 26th to celebrate one of the most beloved symbols of #Autumn. \nAs soon as October arrives\, pumpkins are found everywhere from food to drinks and even as decorations. \nPeople visit pumpkin patches to find their perfect pumpkins to carve for #Halloween and walk around sipping their pumpkin spice lattes. Pumpkin pies are an essential Thanksgiving staple for Americans as pumpkins represent everything cosy and loved about Autumn. \n\nPumpkins Trivia\n\n\n\nPumpkins come in many different colours like orange\, pink\, white\, red\, green\, and even blue pumpkins! They also come in different sizes\, one of the smallest varieties being called the ‘Jack-be-little’.\nThe world’s heaviest pumpkin was grown in Italy in 2021. It was over 17ft in circumference and weighed 1226kg\, the equivalent of an average of ten baby elephants!\nThe most expensive pumpkin seed was bought for £1250 (or $1\,481 in Aug 2022). It was taken from a world record-breaking pumpkin and bought by the company Thompson & Morgan in the hope of breaking a new record.\nIllinois is the state that produces the most pumpkins in the USA. The city of Morton IL is known as the Pumpkin Capital of the World since it has a factory responsible for packaging 85% of the world’s canned pumpkins.\nAccording to a survey\, pumpkin is America’s favourite Thanksgiving pie filling\, with 36% of people preferring it other fillers. Pecan pie came in second place with 17%.\n\nSource: National Pumpkin Day | October 26 – Calendarr \n

SUMMARY:Movember
DESCRIPTION:As always\, this month is Movember ! \nOn average\, men die 5 years earlier than women\, and this needs to change. \nOne of the reasons for this may be men’s tendency to turn a blind eye to unusual symptoms to avoid a visit to the doctor. Don’t let complacency stop you from enjoying an otherwise long and healthy life. \nHave you noticed something out of the ordinary with your body? Don’t leave it too late\, book a doctor’s appointment today. \nSource: Healthline \n#Movember #MensHealth \nFind out more about Movember:  Movember | Changing the face of men’s health – Movember

SUMMARY:National Stress Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:National Stress Awareness Day\, on every first Wednesday in November — November 4th this year — is 24 hours of reinforcing the fact that you’re not doing yourself a favour by stressing about situations you can’t control. In fact\, according to science\, chronic stress leads to impaired cognitive and physiological functions. Would you want to age before your time? Absolutely not! On this day\, let’s learn together to hone our ability to choose one thought over another and let the stress ebb away. \nBut it’s not just about one day. Stress management and reduction should be a constant practice so you can completely remove stress from your life. While we don’t really get enough time to think about it any other day\, use this day to find out where and why you get most of your stress from. Is it from your workplace or family\, or have you got a general habit to worry about little things? Find the stressful areas and plan a course of action to solve them. \nWays to deal with stress include: \n\nBreathing exercises\nPractising mindfulness\nGetting a good night’s sleep\nWriting down the things that make you stressed\n\nSource: NHS \n  \nFind out more from: \nInternational Stress Management Association: https://isma.org.uk/ \nStress Management Society: https://www.stress.org.uk/

SUMMARY:Remembrance Day
DESCRIPTION:Remembrance Day is a solemn observance in the UK that remembers the sacrifice of those who fought and died in World War I and in other wars. It is observed on 11th November each year to commemorate the Armistice that ended the First World War. \nThe main thing people do is to observe two minutes of silence at 11am in honour of the sacrifice made by so many. There are also parades\, memorial services and church services On a national level\, Remembrance Day is observed through a ceremony on Whitehall Road in London. \nIt is traditional to wear poppies on Remembrance Day. Today\, most wear plastic ones instead of real ones\, and these can be purchased for a donation to the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal. \nAll British Commonwealth countries also observe Remembrance Day. The holiday is sometimes also called Armistice Day or Poppy Day. \nRemembrance Sunday in the UK is always held on the second Sunday in November each year. \n  \nSource:  Remembrance Day 2026\, 2027 and 2028

SUMMARY:World Kindness Day
DESCRIPTION:World Kindness Day is an international holiday that was formed in 1998\, to promote #Kindness throughout the world and is observed annually on November 13th as part of the World Kindness Movement. It is observed in many countries including the United States\, Canada\, Japan\, Australia and the U.A.E. \n#WorldKindnessDay presents us with the opportunity to reflect upon one of the most important and unifying human principles. On a day devoted to the positive potential of both large and small acts of kindness\, try to promote and diffuse this crucial quality that brings people of every kind together. \nThe purpose of World Kindness Day as outlined by the World Kindness Movement is “to highlight good deeds in the community focusing on the positive power and the common thread of kindness which binds us.” Since its creation more than two decades ago\, the day has achieved truly global notice; events associated with the day have attracted participants from every inhabited continent. These have included activities such as concerts\, dance mobs\, and the distribution of “kindness cards.” \nThe objective of World Kindness Day is to spread kindness with small gestures. The main tradition of the day is to be kind and to try and encourage kindness to prevail over hatred. Whether it’s helping out someone with chores\, taking the time out to ask how someone is doing\, or complimenting someone\, the name of the game is kindness\, and we all have it in us. \nSource:  World Kindness Day — November 13\, 2026 | National Today

SUMMARY:Anti-Bullying Week
DESCRIPTION:The theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week is “Break the Silence” \nThis year’s campaign – Break the Silence – will encourage children\, young people and adults across the UK to start conversations about bullying\, speak up\, listen and take action together. \nThe theme was developed in collaboration with the anti-bullying sector and shaped directly by the voices of more than 200 children and young people\, many of whom spoke about the silence that can surround bullying and the barriers young people face in asking for help. \nOrganised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance\, which is coordinated by leading children’s charity the National Children’s Bureau\, Anti-Bullying Week has become one of the largest children’s wellbeing campaigns in the UK\, reaching an estimated 8 million children and young people and over 80% of schools each year. \nThe week will also include Odd Socks Day on  Monday 16th November\, where adults and children wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique. \nThis Anti-Bullying Week let’s come together to have discussions about what bullying means to us\, how banter can turn into something more hurtful\, and what we can do to stop bullying. \nTogether\, we can use our Power for Good to end bullying — for good. \nSource:  Anti-Bullying Week 2026: Break the Silence \n#ReachOut #AntiBullyingWeek #MakeANoiseAboutBullying #ChooseRespect #BreakTheSilence

SUMMARY:Carers Rights Day
DESCRIPTION:This year\, Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 19 November and the theme is  ‘Someone you know is carer – but do they know it yet?’ \nEvery day\, 12\,000 people become unpaid carers for a partner\, family member or a friend – many of whom don’t see themselves as carers\, often unaware of their legal rights and what they’re entitled to in terms of support and benefits. \nCarers should not have to miss out on support designed to reduce some of the pressures caring can bring. Whether they care 24/7 or juggle care with work and family life\, are new to caring or have been for many years\, and wherever they live in the UK – all carers deserve to understand their rights and be supported to use them if they wish. \nGet involved in Carers Rights Day and help carers in your network and local community know about their rights and the wider support available. \nAs a carer\, knowing your rights empowers you with information about what you’re entitled to. This helps you feel confident asking for what you need\, as well as challenging things when your rights are not being met – whether that be in the workplace or education\, in accessing health or social care\, or when interacting with other professionals or at home. \n#CarersRights #RecogniseYourRights #CarersSupport \n*Source: Carers Rights Day | Carers UK \n  \n\nAs always\, please check on aDoddle as help and support\, opportunities to volunteer or connect with others can often be found through local community organisations. \nPS – If you are a local community organisation and haven’t already added your details to aDoddle – please do\, it is totally free.
