Community Building

Wakefield Library

"Bringing ideas, imagination, information and knowledge to people’s lives and communities"

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

We offer free access to thousands of books , eBooks , audiobooks , online reference, magazines and maps. Each of our libraries runs numerous events and activities for all the family, and staff are on hand to help you find anything you need.

Our libraries act as community hubs, bringing people from towns and rural communities together in safe and welcoming environments and are regularly used by those looking for company and support, helping to tackle social isolation and loneliness.

Our home library service meets the needs of people who cannot travel to their local library, taking all of our books and resources directly to them and often providing company and support.

In addition, we provide access to resources for health issues, signpost to local health and wellbeing services, host healthy lifestyle events and activities and work with health organisations to provide support services and encourage and promote positive health and wellbeing.
