Hop Skip and Jump - Swindon

"Providing flexible & immediate respite care for children & adults with disabilities / special needs"

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

With 1 in 5 people affected by some form of disability, we are committed to reaching out to these people and their families. Together we can make a very real difference in people’s lives and continue to provide the very best in respite care.

We believe not only in helping parents through the difficulties of supporting a disabled child, but also in ensuring that there is a sense of development for their children.

We are truly flexible and immediate. Our care is based upon the concept of space – space for you, space for your family: a space to breathe.

As respite care continues to be something available only to a lucky few, we aim to operate an “accessible to all” service, with care and facilities that are second to none, where children and adults can learn, develop and play in a safe and well supported environment.

"Hop Skip and Jump is a huge support to us as a family. It allows me to have a break from caring for my son who has autism and challenging behaviour. It gives me great peace of mind knowing he is being cared for in a safe, secure environment with qualified and caring staff. Having some time out to spend with his siblings is very important and would not be possible without a place such as this."

Hop Skip and Jump provide immediate and flexible respite care for children and young adults with disabilities and SEN. We are able to cater for up to 60 children a day, providing a variety of groups and activities for them to engage with, indoor and outdoor play facilities, all with an emphasis on self-development and discovery.

Our Centres provide both a play-orientated and creative outlet for children,  but also offer a comprehensive support service for their parents. They are equipped with sensory rooms, soft play facilities and art rooms in order to provide a safe and secure space that enriches the lives of disabled children whilst their parents receive a much needed break.

Hop Skip & Jump Swindon was opened in 2011, making it the third Hop, Skip & Jump centre! It is also the smallest of our centres, but prides itself on achieving big things! HSJ Swindon has a large indoor soft play area, a fully accessible kitchen and extensive outdoor space with a castle, race track and swings. We have newly opened ‘The Rainbow Clinic’, a wooden cabin that caters for children with particularly acute needs, a light and comfortable space that has sensory facilities and a changing room. No referral is needed to access our Centre, however if you would like a referral for funding,  please contact the Children’s Services Team of your Local Authority or your health care professional; should you need further help with this, please contact us on 01793 873098.

There is not a catchment area for the Swindon centre and we welcome new referrals from any location, not only the Swindon area. Hop Skip & Jump Swindon is overseen by Clarrissa Legg, and she and the team look forward to welcoming you to the centre soon! Click here for a virtual tour of our centre.

Sometimes a break can be everything – to know that your child is being looked after in a safe, secure environment with plenty of support, encouragement and opportunity makes all the difference. At Hop Skip and Jump, we strive to make that difference.
