Lighthouse Project
"We welcome and support so you achieve..."
The Lighthouse Project is a part of local community development charity Inspire Middleton. The vision of the charity is to inspire people, places and organisations in and around the town, to make Middleton a better place to live, work and visit.
The people part of the charity's vision is achieved through the work of the Lighthouse Project, which also hosts and includes Middleton Central Foodbank, Lighthouse Pantry and Lighthouse Money Advice, and many other related activities and groups.
Since June 2010 the Lighthouse has seen a footfall of over 430,000 visits from all kinds of people needing help and support. Covid-19 aside, we typically see around 35,000 visits per year for use of our internet access, employability support, food and financial crisis intervention, social groups and leisure activities. Things that can make a practical difference in peoples lives.
We have a live diary on our website, lighthouseproject.org.uk, on the home page, where you can see what's-on on any particular day, or you can just call in and see what's up when you arrive.
The Lighthouse Project relies on our volunteers to help us provide the range of support that is on offer so we are always looking for volunteers to help us run the Lighthouse Project and support our visitors; this can be helping in reception, manning our refreshment area, supporting people to use a computer or the internet, help with our foodbank, maintenance, cleaning, etc.
There are many ways that you can get involved and help, visit the Give Help pages of our website to see how you could get involved.
Your skills and experience might be just what we need. You could help us offer something that is missing from one of our existing projects, or you might be able to develop your own skills and interests through some of the activities that we run.
In fact our whole vision is about inspiring and encouraging people to do positive things and our work requires more and more people to participate. So, if that’s you then come and contact us, we’ll find you something to do.
