Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes
As our name suggests, we are ‘here to help’. Our primary focus is on providing support, at home, to the elderly, those living with dementia, other vulnerable people, and their carers. We help people to remain living independently in their own homes; assisting with those tasks they find challenging and can no longer manage themselves.
We also want to support people to lead independent lives and continue participating in their local community. This also includes adopting approaches that will enable people living with dementia to remain active in their communities.

We provide practical help around the home to support independent living
We give carers a break from their caring role – during the day and overnight
We provide some personal care services, including nail trimming
We provide companionship and befriending
We help people get to and from appointments and social meetings
We provide information, helping to signpost people to the help they need
We raise funds to enable us to help as many people as possible
We promote volunteering, and recruit, train, place and support volunteers
We work closely with other local organisations to make best use of resources

There are lots of ways you can get involved with Assist Teignbridge. We are always looking for volunteers to help with a range of activities with our community support project - befriending; dog walking; shopping; helping people to attend events and appointments, are just a few examples. Through all our actions it is our belief that people should be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. We also recognise that we should support people to recognise their own abilities and strengths and that we should enable them as much as possible to live independent and fulfilling lives.
