Dawlish Local History Group
"The group is a forum for local history with regular talks and outings."
The Dawlish Local History Group offers opportunities to explore and reflect on what life was like in the local area in times past with talks, presentations and outings.
We usually meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Manor House, Dawlish but during the summer months there could instead be a planned visit to a location of interest. Talks take place at the Manor House in Dawlish at 2.30pm. They are chosen to be both informative and entertaining. We may also hold occasional evening meetings. The programme includes outings to places of historical interest.
The group undertakes research on the history of the local area. Members are kept up to date with events and activities by a regular newsletter.
The History group may be able to help with information about Dawlish in the past. We store pictures and information on data bases which can be viewed on the computer at Dawlish Museum.
We may be able to help with local history questions and have a number of publications for sale concerning Dawlish, details on the Dawlish Local History Group website.
New members and guest are welcome. Check the website for details of the next meeting and for any changes. We seek information and pictures with regards to families and events around Dawlish so please get in touch if you can help.
