"Supporting children and adults who are affected by limb difference or other disability"

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

The DOUGLAS BADER FOUNDATION will cease to operate on 31st October 2024

We are sad to report that after helping and supporting amputees and people living with other disabilities and diagnosed mental health conditions for over 42 years,  the DBF will cease to operate at  the end of our financial year on October 31st 2024.

We are very proud of what we've been able to achieve for our community since the inception of the charity following the death of Sir Douglas Bader on 5th September 1982. At that time there were only 2 other charities helping amputees. Since then, however, many more dynamic young charities have emerged with new energy and ideas and with the DBF team now all at retirement age, we feel that the time has come to leave the community we've so loved supporting in their capable hands.

It has been a pleasure to work in partnership with them and to have been able to meet and support so many courageous and inspiring people. We feel privileged to have known you all and thank you for enriching our lives.

Our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported us in so many ways over the decades.

We are no longer able to accept donations and all DBF activities and initiatives have now ceased in order to comply with closure procedures. However, we will continue to post on the website and Facebook Page until the end of October so do keep checking in...
