Our purpose is to improve the lives of older people in Bristol. Let's change the way we age.

We aim to

  • provide  a range of quality services and initiatives that address those issues which are important to older people in Bristol.
  • reduce isolation and promote an independent lifestyle for older people in Bristol.
  •  promote a positive view of the contribution that older people make to society.
  • help local older people to remain living in their own homes for as long as they wish to do so.
  • campaign to improve services locally.

What We Do


Information and Advice

Age UK Bristol offers a free and confidential information and advice service for older people, their families and carers. 

Call our helpline,  0117 929 7537. Open Wednesday - Friday 10 - 1.  Telephone advice on all topics, appointment & home visit bookings, information about other local services.

 

Free Booklets & Online Information

Age UK produces free information guides and factsheets on a wide range of topics, including home adaptations, dementia, and advice for carers. You can find a complete list of guides and factsheets on the Age UK national website

Benefits Calculator

Age UK's benefits calculator will help you find out what benefits you could claim. The calculator covers England, Scotland and Wales. It is free to use, and the details you provide are anonymous.


New Beginnings Day Centre

We are open 5  days a week. We are able to provide transport for those who require it in and around the Withywood area. We offer a regular programme of activities that include exercise, dance, arts and crafts, singing, baking, walking, gardening, visits from local school children and outside entertainment to name but a few. 12 - 20 people attend per day, which creates an exciting friendly atmosphere and we have a two course hot meal freshly prepared daily in the onsite café.


Friends Ageing Better

Friends Ageing Better Services provide activities to keep older people active and connected. We run  telephone groups and Tai Chi.

Volunteer

Volunteering

Our amazing volunteers help us to do so much in Bristol. Whether you have two hours or a day to spare, we have plenty of opportunities for volunteers. Click here for more details including our current opportunities and how to get involved.

Work for Us

We employ over 30 paid staff and we have 90+ volunteers providing a range of services for older people in Bristol. We offer training and regular support and the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills in working with this group. Whether you want to walk, run, bake, or even jump out of a plane, we have loads of fundraising ideas and events for people who want to help us make a difference.

Friends Ageing Better - FAB

We are excited to present our newest project Friends Ageing Better (FAB). FAB is a community of older people who get together in their local area, enjoy a cup of tea and make new friends, while sharing information on activities in their local area and more generally in the city.
