Libraries Unlimited - Exeter Library
"Bringing ideas, imagination, information and knowledge to people’s lives and communities"
We offer free access to thousands of books, eBooks, audiobooks, online reference, music and magazines as well as our Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centres and FabLab Devon. Each of our libraries runs numerous events and activities for all the family, and staff are on hand to help you find anything you need
Our libraries act as community hubs, bringing people from towns and rural communities together in safe and welcoming environments and are regularly used by those looking for company and support, helping to tackle social isolation and loneliness.
Our home library service meets the needs of people who cannot travel to their local library, taking all of our books and resources directly to them and often providing company and support.
In addition, we provide access to resources for health issues, signpost to local health and wellbeing services, host healthy lifestyle events and activities and work with health organisations to provide support services and encourage and promote positive health and wellbeing.
Libraries Unlimited is a registered charity that believes in the unlimited potential of library services across the UK to make a positive difference to people’s lives and communities through the shared love of reading and access to a wide array of information and facilities.
Across all the areas in which we operate, we aim to bring ideas, imagination, information and knowledge to people’s lives and communities, providing inspiring spaces and supporting learning through a variety of resources, support and events.
We are committed to supporting the positive health and wellbeing of individuals through access to a range of different services, resources and events.
A library is a safe space where you are welcome to come and look for help - whether that is borrowing our books and resources, accessing the internet and computers, or attending events and activities for all ages. Our friendly library team will be available to help you to access the services you need.
Exeter Library is open seven days a week and receives an average of 1,500 visits a day. The library has over 1km of shelves containing over 60,000 books, CDs and DVDs which can be issued at any of the self-service points. In addition, the library has a reserve stack of approximately 150,000 items, available on request.
There is a large children's library overlooking Rougemont Gardens and a separate teen area, as well as 34 computers which are free to use for up to 2 hours per day and printing and copying facilities.
Exeter Library is also home to the Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Centre, where you can access information and attend business events and workshops to support your business or start up. The library also houses the first FabLab to be located within a public library in England. FabLab Devon is a community creative space that provides access to a range of digital equipment and machinery.
