The Furniture Project Nottinghamshire

"Providing good quality re-usable household items to people and families in times of need"

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

The Furniture Project is run by a team of committed staff and volunteers, who are motivated by the desire to provide good quality re-usable household items to people and families in times of need.

The Project seeks to assist all those meeting the eligibility criteria, but in particular those experiencing distress and hardship e.g. homelessness, domestic violence, fire/flood victims, or those returning into the community from institutions, prisons or hospitals.

It now has five vans operating daily, collecting donated furniture, delivering furniture to those in need (the Project averages 10 referrals for help each day, made by over 150 agencies & organisations) and delivering surplus furniture sold to help fund the Project, throughout an area covering over 600 square miles. It also offers placements to Nottinghamshire Probation Services for those doing Community Service.

What We Do

The Project seeks to assist all those meeting the eligibility criteria, but in particular those experiencing distress and hardship e.g. homelessness, domestic violence, fire/flood victims, or those returning into the community from institutions, prisons or hospitals.

Therefore, if you are homeless, on a low income, in receipt of benefits, are a family or individual in crisis, or in temporary accommodation and live in Nottinghamshire, then please refer to our web site, which lists some of our main referral agencies.

Sales Of Excess Stock

We have a large and constantly changing selection of used but good quality excess stock:

Furniture, beds, cots, electrical goods, household goods, bric-a-brac, etc., for sale to the general public at affordable prices.  Please see here for further details.

Volunteer

Donate Furniture

We rely on members of the public to donate household furniture, beds, electrical items, bedding, curtains, crockery, TV’s, fridges, freezers, washing machines, bric-a-brac, clothing, etc., providing that they are in a re-usable condition. We can also accept electric & gas cookers that are in working order.

We will collect re-usable donated items free of chargeunlike many organisations and local authorities, who charge a fee to collect such items.

All upholstered furniture, beds and mattresses, must, by law, comply with the 1990 fire regulations. Therefore, if any item does not have the necessary labelling the Project will, unfortunately, not be able to accept it for re-use, but only for waste (removal fee charged).

Your donations are important to us;  we will re-distribute them to local families and individuals who are in need.
Your donation can help turn a house into a home for someone.

Landfills are not forever, your donation reduces the need to landfill and helps to protect the environment, whilst helping this Project to help others by to re-using and recycling unwanted items.

To donate, please contact us on 01623 836 410, or email[email protected] or,  you can now also donate via our new shop at Sherwood Drive, New Ollerton
