"Supporting people who care for family and friends who need extra support day-to-day"
The Carers’ Centre is a local charity supporting people who care for family and friends who need extra support day-to-day.
This might be because they are elderly, have a physical disability or illness, a mental health problem or struggles with substance misuse. Caring for someone can feel very isolating, tiring and have a significant impact on your health and wellbeing.
If you are a carer, the Carers' Centre is here for you. We can offer information and advice, breaks from caring, emotional & practical support and put you in touch with other people who understand what you’re going through.

“What would happen to the person I look after if I am unwell, have an accident or emergency?”
This thought is often at the back of carers’ minds and ignoring it can even make it more of a worry.
An Emergency Plan is a safe way to hold essential information about the person you care for, what their care needs are and who needs to be informed if something goes wrong.
We know that juggling work with caring responsibilities can be tough and getting back into work if your caring role changes or ends can be scary.
Talking through your options and meeting other carers in a similar situation can really help.
We offer free one-to-one and group sessions for carers wanting to:

We have a dedicated outreach officer who works with carers looking after people with dementia. Our office works on the dementia wards at the RUH and St Martin's hospital to provide specialist support.
Along with one-to-one support our aim is to share the knowledge and expertise we have with other organisations to help make communities in BaNES, and nationwide, more dementia-friendly.
If you think this specialist support could help you, please contact Grace Moorton on [email protected] or phone 08900 0388 885.
