b:friend
"Pairing volunteer befrienders with isolated older neighbours in the community."
"After six months I don't go to see Barbara because I'm her 'befriender', I go to see her because she's my friend."
Loneliness exists and we’d like to help end it.
Can you imagine not speaking to another person all week? That is the reality for thousands of older people across the UK. You could make a real difference to someone's life by simply spending a little time with them, having a cup of tea and a chat.
We’re all neighbours. Let’s b:friend!
We match up volunteer befrienders with isolated older people in the community. Our befrienders visit or call once a week for a friendly chat.
If you, or someone you know, is socially isolated in South Yorkshire, Chesterfield or North East Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire please get in touch here.
b:friend also operates in several weekly social clubs across South Yorkshire.
