Roots Community Enhancement
"Support Groups - Activities to Reduce Stress and Isolation - Health and Wellbeing Enhancement"
DUE TO COVID19 PANDEMIC - WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT RUNNING FACE TO FACE SERVICES.
Check us out on Facebook or Instagram for our live videos and online support.
We are continually reviewing guidelines and will resume projects when we can.
With so many community services restricted due to funding cuts, Roots thought it was time for a new approach. Formed in 2018, we are a team of 7 directors with a heart for the community and a
particular passion for Dawlish, Teignmouth and the surrounding areas. Our founding director
is a registered and insured mental health nurse who has experience of community work
in the area and all areas of mental health practice.
As of 2020, we have a 3 year grant from The National Lottery Community Fund which helps to keep these free projects running. We are always grateful for donations from the community!
Our aim is to provide support groups, well-being activities, groups for little ones to engage with older people and wellbeing development, along with reducing isolation and improving community connectivity.
Our projects include:
Baby Massage courses (subsidised/free)
Waves Bereavement group (free)
Mum4Mum peer support group (free)
HOPE courses for people with long term conditions (free)
Laughter Yoga (free)
Tempo Tots multigenerational music and play group (free)
Cygnets 0-18 months weekly play session (free)

Mum4mum support group
An established group run by Mums who have experienced stress, depression or anxiety. The focus is on sharing experiences with fellow parents who are non-judgemental, empathic and open to a good giggle.
Mental Health/wellbeing courses

Other training can be tailored for desired organisations/groups.
Tempo Tots
An innovative project which provides a much needed group for parents/carers to attend with their young babies/children with the added benefit of engaging with older people. This group runs in a local care home and focuses on singing, play and chatting.
Baby Massage

In addition to training parents over 4 weeks, there is a social element to the group, encouraging friendships and reducing social isolation. Read more
Waves Bereavement Support Group
An informal support group, run by those who have also experienced loss. Hear others’ stories and help each other to grieve and manage the daily struggles.
Laughter Yoga
Laughter yoga is a new twist on an ancient practice and there are reportedly over 8000 laughter clubs across the world! Not only does it increase happiness, but it also strengthens the immune system. We run a weekly club in addition to pop up community sessions and engagement in schools.
Cygnets
Cygnets is a free weekly group for parents/carers and their babies under the age of 18 months. Aimed at tackling isolation, the group sings with actions, offers refreshments and gentle social interaction with support where needed.
