"Providing help and support to people experiencing mental health problems in the Dudley borough "

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

We are Dudley Mind, part of the Mind family, We are a local mental health charity that aims to improve and promote recovery and wellbeing for people living in the Dudley borough and surrounding areas affected by poor mental health. We try to work alongside people to assist them in finding a route to recovery that works for them. We remain independent, with our own board of trustees made up of volunteers, some of whom have their own experience of mental health.

What We Do

We’re here to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. We do this through the provision of a number of services (Please click on the green links for further information)

Staying Well

We have found the Five Ways to Wellbeing a useful tool for planning activities that help us to stay well. You can choose any activity that you enjoy for each of the headings and plan it into your week. It’s the small things that can make a big difference.

Peer Support Groups

We provide a number of Peer Support groups for various mental health conditions that offer the chance for people to be around others who understand what they are going through.

Dudley Mind Walking Group

Dudley Mind’s walking group all enjoy going for long walks together every last Saturday of the month to help improve their mental wellbeing. The walks are led each month by our two friendly walk leaders Kirpal and Ade who both have their own experience with mental health.

Gardening & Growing

We have a gardening project at Wollescote park in Stourbridge where we offer people the chance to become a volunteer and take part in various gardening projects. This project aims to help those who have become isolated and are looking to meet new people.

Keeping it together

A friendly, welcoming Drop In service for people who experience mental health difficulties and those who feel socially isolated, and would benefit from receiving support from like minded people. Meet twice a week, Monday from 3:00pm – 6:00pm and Thursdays 3:00pm – 7:00pm in Dudley.

Red Door Wellbeing Project

Working in Kidderminster (as Wyre Forest Mind) we are partnering with the New Meeting House. This is an historic Unitarian Church in the centre of the town. They hold a weekly drop-in session (the Red Door Café) for people experiencing difficulties in the local area. We also have a twice-weekly drop-in at Henry Court in Dudley Town centre for people experiencing mental health problems and who feel isolated.

Sport

Improve how you feel by taking some exercise? There’s lots of evidence to show that it helps.

Mental Health First Aid Open Courses – For organisations & individuals

Here you will find a list of all of our upcoming Mental Health First Aid open courses which are open to organisations and individuals who would like to increase their knowledge and understanding of mental health.

Food for Thought Wellbeing Cafe

Food For Thought, our new and exciting wellbeing cafe opened its doors in Stourbridge in December 2017. Serving a wide choice of freshly made foods and drinks, including Indigo Valley ethical coffees and of course cake (!), the aim of the cafe is to help generate vital funds for the charity and promote wellbeing to customers.

Volunteer

As a charity, we rely solely on fundraising and donations to continue to provide much-needed services to the people who need it the most. If you are able to make a donation or run a fundraising event for us you can help us to continue to support people in the local community experiencing mental health difficulties.

Volunteering

1 in 4 of us will experience some kind of mental health distress in our lifetime. We need more people who understand and are willing to support others who are struggling with mental health distress. If you are looking at this page then it is likely that you want to help. So thank you for considering us as your help will make a big difference. Your time and expertise is greatly appreciated. Please click here to see our current vacancies and how to apply.

Fundraising

Could you raise funds for your local charity and have fun too! As a small charity we have a fundraising committee made up of staff, trustees, service users and volunteers who are looking at local events where we can participate and raise funds.
