Rebound Carers' Support Group

"Caring about those affected by drug & alcohol abuse"

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

Rebound Group is a confidential, empathetic support group, caring about carers. We offer free support and assistance to carers and family members affected by a loved ones' drugs, alcohol and substance misuse and their associated mental health problems, in both group and one-to-one counselling settings, as needed.

The group is run by members who have attended the group for many years. They are all suitably qualified, having accredited Working Therapeutically with Addiction certificates.  They are also able to help because of their first hand experience - they have a family member in addiction themselves.

We seek to support our members to

  • Understand the problems their loved ones face when trying to come to terms with their addiction to drugs / alcohol
  • Gain Strength to be able to keep boundaries and concentrate on their own lives.  To stop 'enabling'
  • Be Kind to Ourselves by interacting with others who are in a similar situation, members support each other to concentrate on their own mental and physical health
  • Accept that they cannot change their loved ones' choices and behaviours:  they can only change their own attitude and learn to accept their situation.
