Kingston Samaritans
"If something's troubling you, get in touch. You don't have to be suicidal to call."
Welcome to the Kingston branch of Samaritans.
For over fifty years we have offered a confidential listening ear to local people in Kingston, Surbiton, Esher, New Malden and Richmond, who are upset or struggling to cope. Our service is available round the clock by telephone and we have regular visiting hours, when people can simply drop in to talk to us. If you can describe your feelings better using the written word you may also email us and receive a personal reply from one of our supportive, trained volunteers. You don't have to be suicidal to contact us.
Whatever you're going through, call us free any time, from any phone on 116 123.
We're here round the clock, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you need a response immediately, it's best to call us on the phone. This number is FREE to call. You don't have to be suicidal to call us.
Face to Face Support
If you’d prefer to speak to a Samaritan face to face, our branch is open to visitors every day of the year 7.30am-9.30pm. No appointment is needed, you can just turn up at our green door. Ring the doorbell and we will answer asap.
If you can describe your feelings better using the written word you may also email us and receive a personal reply from one of our friendly, trained volunteers.
Giving some time to be a Samaritan means being there for people who desperately need someone. And that really matters. Right now we need volunteers more than ever. Find out how you can help.
Listening volunteers are there for anyone who needs someone. They help more than 5.7 million people each year. And they can change the course of someone’s life. But many calls and messages to Samaritans go unanswered because we don’t have enough volunteers. That’s where you come in. Find out if being a listening volunteer is right for you
Being a Samaritan volunteer can help change lives and we are always looking for people to join our training programme and become listening volunteers. Why not come along to one of our Information Sessions to find out more about what this involves. For a full list of our upcoming Information Sessions, please see our Volunteering page or sign up on our Eventbrite page. If you don't think being a listening volunteer is right for you, we are always looking for volunteers to assist with fundraising, recruitment and training admin as well as a whole host of other roles that help keep our branch running.
Our volunteers keep Samaritans going. They make it possible for us to be here for anyone who needs someone. There's a whole range of things that need to be done. You could help one of our branches raise money or promote its services, organise an event, keep our computers working, volunteer to help in one of our fundraising shops or generally keep things running smoothly. Find out if volunteering to support Samaritans is right for you.
We answer a call for help every 6 seconds. When you fundraise for Samaritans you help us be there for those who need us most. From bake sales to bike rides, marathons to mufti days, there's a fundraising idea for you!
Sign up your choir or group to support Samaritans at your next event.
The branch also provides support locally through its various Outreach activities, which include working in partnership with Network Rail and Wandsworth Prison. We also attend and run workshops and events in schools throughout the community and support events at both Kingston University and Kingston College.
Step free access to building, lift and disabled toilet facilities
Please use this form to send the branch any queries about its administration, including fundraising or sponsorship opportunities, or requests to talk at events. Don't forget to include some contact information so we can get back to you. Please do not use this form if you need support from Samaritans as your comments might not be read for several days. If you need support and prefer to write things down, please email Samaritans instead or write us a letter. Alternatively, you can call or visit us instead.
A number of our volunteers were at Waterloo Station on 24th July 2018 as part of The Big Listen campaign. The Big Listen is all about raising awareness and funds to keep Samaritans running. Suicide is not inevitable, it’s preventable, and our volunteers are there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to support people that feel like they have nowhere to turn. To find out more take a look here.
