Sage House, Tangmere
"A unique and integrated dementia support hub offering a range of dementia-friendly services and care"
Sage House, Tangmere by Dementia Support was the vision of several people who had experienced dementia within their families and felt passionately that those affected deserved better. Founded in 2014, we are a young and ambitious charity. The dream was to bring together the different dementia services that existed in the local area into one dementia-friendly community hub; and after an extremely successful capital appeal, that's exactly what we did.
Our objective remains to work alongside existing organisations to bring together and enrich their offering and the services they provide to ultimately provide exceptional dementia care in the West Sussex area.
Our goal has been to develop a definitive integrated model in continuing care for people living with dementia, as well as providing full support for families and carers.
Sage House - A Unique Dementia Support Hub
Sage House has been developed to ensure that people living with memory loss and dementia are fully supported throughout their whole journey, from pre-diagnosis to end of life care. The building itself has been designed to reduce anxiety and minimise confusion, from the lighting that reduces shadowing to ceiling panels that reduce noise levels.
Home to wellbeing activities (such as painting, move to music, veterans groups, and tea-times), personal care services (such as assisted bathing, holistic therapy treatment room, and hair and beauty salon), a dementia-friendly café, Daisy's café, and Dementia Support's flagship Wayfinding service, Sage House is a truly unique and invaluable dementia community hub.
Wayfinding Service - There when you need a little bit of help
Our unique Wayfinding Service offers personalised practical and emotional support, information and guidance throughout the entire dementia journey. It is free to access and is open to the person living with dementia, carers, friends and extended family. It provides people with immediate advice tp help navigate the complex world of health and social care and dementia support services both at Sage House and in the community. Over 2,500 people were supported by our Wayfinders at Sage House in our first year of operation.
Day Breaks at Sage House - Providing respite for Carers
Day break services provide specialist and personalised day care for those living with dementia and memory loss. The service not only benefits the individual with dementia but provides a much-needed break and respite for carers and families. We do charge for this service and offer subsidised places which are dependent upon an individual's financial situation.
Customers can spend a half or full day at Sage House in Day breaks, participating in meaningful activities designed to stimulate and engage the individual, whilst building on their own individual interests.
Dementia Support is able to deliver its wide range of services and facilities thanks to the extremely generous donations of our supporters and the invaluable work of our staff and volunteers.
