Newbury Friends of the Earth
"A local group of national FOE, campaigning for environmental improvements locally and nationally"
We are part of a national network of local action groups, made up of local people who are passionate about tackling the climate and ecological crises and fighting for a fairer, greener world for everyone.
As well as participating in national campaigns for a greener, fairer, world, we run two practical projects - Lockdown Woods and the Newbury Nature Corridor. Visit our website for more details of these. We are always looking for new people to get involved, so please contact me if you would like to join in enhancing spaces for wildlife in and around our towns.
Newbury Friends of the Earth undertake campaigning activities on a wide range of environmental issues. Our main project at present is caring for a network of small commemorative woodlands we have planted in West Berkshire, commemorating the losses of the covid pandemic, called Lockdown Woods. Our most recent project is an extension of the Lockdown Woods, called Newbury Nature Corridor, which links Barn Crescent and Goldwell Park Lockdown Woods with nature-friendly areas in schools, council spaces and private gardens en route. We also lobby central and local government to achieve ‘Warmer Homes’ and businesses, as well as a wide range of other issues.
Have a look at our website and FB group, and email us if you would like to get involved. We’re sure to have some things you would enjoy getting involved in, and are a friendly bunch of people!
