We are proud to facilitate the early diagnosis of hearing loss for babies and young children and to provide deaf children and their parents with outstanding education and welfare services. We aim for the children in our care to develop vital communication, learning and social skills. By doing so we enable even profoundly deaf children to join school at age 5, ready and able to learn alongside hearing peers, with a solid platform for academic achievement and social inclusion. We help parents understand the impact of childhood hearing loss and provide them with the knowledge and confidence they need to advocate on behalf of their young deaf child. Our core services include;
• Education and welfare programmes for young deaf children and their families attending our centre every week, focusing on communication, learning & social skills.
• 1:1 speech & language therapy for toddlers & preschool children
• Music therapy – in small & large groups to extend listening skills
• Parent education programme starting as soon as families join in our Baby Group.
• Summer Residential Programme for deaf children, siblings & parents
• Let’s Listen and Talk – a unique online learning programme with baby, toddler and preschool learning, specialist papers on demand-led topics, and over 140 video clips to aid learning and family involvement .

Get in touchVolunteer
We are often looking for volunteers to support us in our fundraising, marketimg and administartion roles. This may be on a regular basis, or at one off fundraising events, or for specific fundraising, marketing and social media projects.
From time to time we also need volunteers within our specialist nursery setting to help support education and welfare activities for deaf children. Volunteers in this role must be fit and healthy and preferably have a background/experience in education or health care sectors.
All volunteers are DBS checked as part of our strict safeguarding policy and must provide a minum of 2 references and complete a volunteer application form available on our website or by email request to [email protected]. Completed forms help us gain an understanding of potential volunteers relevent skills, experience and time available, as well as what they hope to gain from their volunteer role

By supporting deaf children to learn to listen and talk from an early age we enable them to join school as confident communicators and capable young learners - ready to play safely and learn alongside their hearing friends at school. Children who receive the benefit of early intervention and support can and do acheive well at school and within their later career or vocation - as evidenced by the inspiring children who have benefitted from The Elizabeth Foundation and grown into amazing young adults making their way in the world, including our Patron, Jodie Ounsley - the first profoundly deaf rugby player to be chosen to play for an Englnds 7s rugby team, and our Trustee, Imogen - an outstanding solicitor.
