Woodbury Wide Awake
"Encouraging the conservation of the natural environment"
Woodbury Wide Awake was founded in 2019 as a festival of environment-focused projects and events throughout the parish of Woodbury, East Devon. It was inspired by Reverend William Keble Martin, the renowned botanist, and illustrator and author of The Concise British Flora (1965), who died in Woodbury 50 years previously in 1969. The festival explored his life, work and legacy, and also changes in the local and national natural environment that have occurred since that time, and environmental challenges for the future. These themes were explored in a short community documentary film.
We concentrate on monitoring, protecting and enhancing the local natural environment of the parish for biodiversity, organising events and surveying and recording data on wildflowers and trees. Volunteers are very welcome!
