Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes
1 in 14 adults in England never learnt to read at school. Read Easy North Somerset provides free, confidential, one-to-one coaching from trained volunteers for adults who struggle with reading.
We currently coach adults in Weston, Clevedon, Portishead and Nailsea and we are offering the free service to the whole of North Somerset.
No classrooms, no exams, no pressure.

Get in touchWhat We Do
If a loved one, friend or colleague struggles with reading, please get in touch with us. After a simple assessment they can be paired up with their own trained coach and start the journey towards confident reading. They will meet with their coach for a half-hour session twice a week in a location convenient to them - this may be at a library, community centre or any other suitable quiet public place.
They can proceed at their own pace, guided by a friendly, understanding coach and using top-quality learning resources. All coaches are trained by the charity Read Easy UK.
The coaching and all books and resources are 100% free of charge.

We are an all-volunteer group. From time to time our group needs to recruit new volunteers, as reading coaches or as part of the management team. All volunteer roles receive training/induction according to the role and reading cocahes are guided and supported by a volunteer Coordinator.

Our map position shows a place in Clevedon, but we don't have an 'office'. All volunteers work from home and the coaching sessions take place in the learner's local community. We are currently coaching in Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Portishead and Nailsea and we can offer the free service anywhere in North Somerset.
