OBJECT 1 - Turning Point 60th Anniversary Community Trail: A mosaic of experiences
"The Story of Turning Point in 60 Objects #TurningPoint60"
I've had a real rocky experience with my mental health over the last four years and always managed to pull myself out of the other side. A disco ball is known for reflecting and scattering light in multiple directions, mostly because the glass is essentially 'broken' - but this to me means that broken things can still be beautiful. At certain times of day, the light shines on them, which shows there are moments of joy, sadness, excitement, and calmness in life. The shattered pieces represent a mosaic of experiences in my eyes.
Grief has been a huge part of my life for the last year since my best friend passed away suddenly, and disco balls were her FAVOURITE thing. Each one is unique, just like she was. They often create a beautiful pattern on the wall too, feels like she's there with me if I'm having a tougher day. I've even got one tattooed on my arm I love that them that much.
More mental health support in the NHS which is accessible much quicker. Adults tend to get left at the wayside the minute you turn 16, but I'd love for Turning Point to continue supporting mental health and hopefully this transpires into government.

The Herefordshire Recovery Service, part of Turning Point, provides free and confidential advice and support for people using alcohol and other drugs, including young people and families and carers affected by someone else’s use. The service went live in April 2021, with a central office in Hereford, additional hubs in Leominster and Ross-on-Wye, and satellites in Ledbury, Kington, and Bromyard. Our outreach vehicle, Lance, also allows us to provide support out and about where needed.
