Community Project
TP Bradford - Visit from Epiphany
"Empowering people through accessible, joyful and inclusive sound experiences"
Our TP service in Bradford is a residential supported living service. Living in their own environment is a goal for many and is achievable with quality support that is tailored to individual needs.
A key to the front door isn’t just a sign of independence, but also represents a connection with a local community which can be the key to a meaningful and active life.
Our person-centred approach enables people to build skills, increase independence and feel happy and healthy.
Asset-based
We link people to community services, peers, and personal supporter networks
Choice based
Working with each person to explore their choices and support positive risk taking in their decisions. Enabling people to celebrate their unique identities to enjoy aspects of their identity such as their sexuality, to have healthy relationships, and whilst understanding our duty of protection, to sustain good sexual health and sexual relationships.
Enablement and Strengths-Focused
Working with people to build better health and increased independence, building on their strengths, and recognising their achievements; agreeing pace with each person, setting step skills development and self-management outcomes to achieve larger sustainable goals.
Healthy & Happy
Having a Healthy and Happiness plan in place with each person to ensure physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, social, and financial health is optimised so the person has informed choices and takes informed risks.
Resilience based
Understanding and acceptance that increasing independence is not a linear journey and setbacks are to be expected; with learning used in resilience and sustainment building strategies.
Situational and Social
Consideration of individual circumstances relating to housing, finance, employment, domestic and social affairs supporting with tailored ongoing plans to help address risks, tensions, and pressures.
Supporting Transitions
Ensuring truly informed co-ordinated approaches to transitions of support, where all stakeholders have the information and skills needed for success.
Technology Enabled
Linking people into mainstream and specialist technology choices that support the management of their home, their self-determination in daily living, their preventative responsive services, and their active life in the wider community.
Whole person
Understanding the identity, history, circumstances, coexisting and comorbid conditions, experiences and ambitions of each person and the impact these have on the individual; coordinating joined-up support to address holistic need.
To achieve independent living could require a few hours of support a week in a rented flat, 24/7 support in an owned home, or a shared home with friends and the individual support needed. All these are possibilities. We can even connect with housing providers who work with us to find the ideal home. Our people will help at every stage, supporting with creating a full life – socialising with new friends, building a relationship, studying, or getting a job. With our support, everyone can live as independently as they wish.

TP Bradford - Visit from Epiphany hasn't yet completed the content for this section.
Epiphany is a collective of professional musicians who create improvised music designed for active listening and interaction. This project involved Epiphany providing events for people we support and the local community. They crafted individual sound portraits for attendees, with music ranging from lively and stimulating to peaceful and calming, reflecting the essence of each person or group. To enhance the experience, they provided resources such as ribbons for waving or bubble wands. There was also space available for movement and dance. This initiative encouraged participants to engage with music and emotions, offering a "spiritual" or "mindful" experience. Both the church community and the wider public were invited to join alongside individuals supported by Turning-Point's learning difficulties team.
These 3 events aimed to foster connections between the disabled community, the village, and the church, thus enriching community life. They hoped this initiative would pave the way for additional collaborative events, such as Christmas carolling, singing gatherings, or concerts. People we support were involved in organising the events
For one of the events the team engaged with an artist to interpret the music into art. 82 people engaged in the most recent event which includes staff, people we support, local residents and the musicians.
“I was filled with joy.”
“The music is so moving”
“I was moved to tears.”
“It was good. I liked the instruments. Coming here.”
Gestures(clapping, reaching out, waving arms etc ) and facial expressions (concentration, smiles etc)were noted.
