Community Project
The Plot | Princetown Community Garden
"Provide food security and improve mental health for our deprived and isolated community"
The Plot is managed by Dartmoor Forest Parish Council. We are a group of volunteers working together to create a Community Garden for the benefit of the whole community. The Plot is open to anyone, and all are welcome, whether you wish to help weeding, learn a bit about gardening, grow some fruit and veg, or just come for a chat and good company. We invite both experts and amateurs, and those with or without finances.
Our long-term aim is to grow vegetables, fruit, herbs and so on to share amongst the village. We hope it will further become a location in the community where people can relax and chat (great for those that are lonely or don’t have a garden of their own). To this end, we also plan a lawned area with picnic benches.
Should we be lucky enough to have any produce from The Plot, this will be distributed appropriately throughout the community.
We can help all ages learn how to garden, and we provide all the equipment necessary. Our team includes both experts and amateurs.
We are always open to new ideas, so if there is something in particular you would like to grow, or a different growing method, then just let us know!
We also have picnic tables if you just want to come along for a chat, some company and to enjoy the Community Garden.
We welcome and encourage all volunteers, regardless of age, ability or finance. We need help with weeding, watering, bringing on seedlings, pruning, digging, mowing...
Or just some company while we work!
