Community Building

Skelmanthorpe Community Centre

"A welcoming space for people to connect, find activities, hire spaces and help the local community."

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

Skelmanthorpe Community Centre is a charity located in the heart of the village and welcomes over 250 people per week through its doors. With our sports hall, studio, meeting room, Multi Use Games Area and cafe, we provide affordable spaces for people to come together for skills development, social activities, fitness and wellbeing sessions and much more.

We run a stay and play session for under 5s on a Monday, and a warm space and community cafe on a Friday. We also host the HD8 Community Pantry, a membership discount grocery shop helping local residents avoid financial crisis.

Volunteer

We are run by a very small volunteer team, and are always happy to welcome new volunteers to help. Whether you have an hour or two a week to spare for a particular project e.g. community cafe, Stay and Play; skills to offer in maintaining the building; or time and expertise to give as a trustee, we would love to hear from you.
