Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes
Yorkshire Youth & Music is a community music and arts education company working across the whole of Yorkshire
We create music-making opportunities that change the lives of children and young people in very challenging circumstances across the region, including:
- children with special education needs
- young people in Youth Justice settings
- children with disabilities
We have expertise and a reputation for reaching the hardest to reach young people, and those in very challenging circumstances, working in partnership with schools, music services, community groups and other organisations and institutions who provide support and services to young people. Our work has been funded by Youth Music, the Arts Council, Children in Need, a variety of local Trusts and Foundations and by kind donations from individuals.
YY&M follows young people’s own musical aspirations and we employ the very best, multi-skilled music practitioners on our projects. We also offer training and support to adults who work with children and young people in a variety of settings and circumstances.

Get in touchWhat We Do
Welcome to Safe Space Studio, a unique music production space in the heart of Huddersfield designed specifically to offer a safe place for young people to collaborate and make music together.
This supportive environment is a safe space for young people struggling with mental health, offering them a chance to express themselves through music. Come and listen to your favourite tracks, play on the decks and practice your DJ skills, write songs and produce your own music, solo or with your friends, in a safe and collaborative space in Huddersfield town centre.
The space is currently open by appointment
Sessions are open to 16 - 24 year olds
Book in groups of up to 3
