Footprints 2 Africa

"Redistributing surplus healthcare supplies to people in need across Africa."

Who We Help, Why We Help & the Difference It Makes

Across the UK, large quantities of unused ostomy, continence and healthcare supplies are sent to landfill following prescription changes, surgery, bereavement or stock becoming surplus or expiry.  At the same time, people across Africa are going without, with some forced to use bread bags, tins or pieces of cloth to collect their waste.

Footprints 2 Africa is an award winning, 100% volunteer-led charity connecting that surplus with people in need. We collect donated supplies from individuals, NHS trusts, pharmacies and businesses, then sort and pack them for distribution through trusted hospitals and community partners.

Our work also creates meaningful practical opportunities for young people with additional needs through partnerships with UK colleges and education providers. More than 43,000 items have already been diverted from landfill, reducing healthcare waste while restoring dignity, comfort and hope.

What We Do

Footprints 2 Africa saves surplus ostomy, continence and menstrual health supplies from landfill and gets them to under resourced hospitals and vulnerable patients in need across Africa.

We welcome donations from NHS trusts, pharmacies, healthcare organisations and individuals, including ostomy supplies left following a bereavement. We can also accept supplies up to 12 months past their expiry date, provided they are kept separate from in date items.

We have 6 UK drop-off areas:

-Gloucestershire

-Wiltshire

-Wales

-Derbyshire

-Chester

-Northern Ireland

Depending on the location and quantity, we may be able to arrange collection. Supplies can also be posted to:

Please include your name and email address inside the parcel so we can thank you when it arrives.

Every donated item helps restore dignity, comfort and hope while preventing usable healthcare supplies from going to landfill.
