This week is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week.
Statistics show that 1 in 3 people don’t go to their cervical screening appointment due to embarrassment or fear. There’s a lot of built-up stigma around the test, but it’s one that’s vitally important.
According to the NHS, the early signs of ovarian cancer can be:
Cervical cancer is curable with early detection. It is also very slow to spread, increasing the chances of cure. All we have to do is test and start treatment before cancer grows.
Therefore it is crucial that women aged 25 – 64 take up their free cervical screening on the NHS as soon as they receive their invitation.
