National Allotment Week

August 12 - August 18

Illustration of a spade and rake crossed over each other with small plants around them. Below, the text reads "National Allotment Week" in green and "12th - 18th August" in brown. The background is light beige with small brown speckles.

This year, National Allotment Week will run from 12-18th August with the theme of #Biodiversity

Good soil health is widely accepted as a way to improve yield when growing edibles but also contributes positively to #Biodiversity and the environment as the world faces more climate challenges.

The NAS hope that this #NationalAllotmentWeek will inform and educate gardeners old and new about the benefit of caring for the soil and the creatures that inhabit it.

Gardening can help people cope with stress and mental health issues. One of the best ways to have a calmer, more optimistic mindset is to immerse yourself in nature and nurture plants.

Join in the week-long celebration by signing up for a local gardening class. Invite your neighbours and friends to a seed and plant swap. It’s also a great way for you to get some exercise and connect with your friends and neighbours.
